clearwater was definitely his floor, think he could hold his own in reading. clearwater would let him hang around the complex when he's not pitching. already has logged 116 innings this year. guessing they don't push him past 160.

He is just pandering to the fan base that hate Howard and hates the deal he signed.

The team drafted 1 third baseman and its normal handful of catchers. Why is third base such a hard position to find? Do all the third sackers in the US suck? It is a real mystery to me. If your kid cannot pitch left handed, put him on the hot corner.

most third baseman are shortstops who outgrew the position.

right, to expand on this, guys who have enough SKILLZ to be drafted will usually be playing a higher-profile defensive position at the college or HS level, and get moved over as they encounter better defensive competition in the minors.

This isn't always true, of course. Some masher like Bob Horner played 3B in college due to mobility issues. Mike Schmidt, Don Money and (I think) Scott Rolen were all shortstops prior to pro ball.

Exactly. It's the same reason that most college 2B/3B played SS in high school and often pitched. (And if you watch the College World Series, you'll hear that fact discussed ad nauseam.)

I played there and was great at just putting my glove in front of the bag to tag sliding runners, rather than reaching for them, which not nearly enough MLBers do if you ask me

My fielding and hitting were the problem
