So much for good play trumping veteran status. If that is the way things are going to go with Hextall, I'm not impressed. Could be a long season with spring time golfing for the Flyers.

I'd rather have Laughton get first line minutes.

There was no way Ghost was making the team out of camp. Not sure why people are having such a hard time understanding that

Tom Brady bereft on the turf, it has literally been ripped from his grasp

I guess those guys need some good playing time. Not a bad strategy most likely.

Exactly, no reason to break Laughton like they did Coots.

Totally agree with this.

To me, it seems like the person running the Flyers finally has a clue. Laughton should be in the AHL all year just as Couturier should have been in juniors and then the AHL before coming to the Flyers. Couturier was a gifted offensive player coming out of the draft with top line center potential and Holmgren/Lavy/Berube have basically ruined him by making him a third line "shutdown" center which is laughable.

Yes, they will be mediocre for the next year or two, but Hextall just needs to stick with the plan, develop the young stud defensemen, get contracts off the books, and go from there.

They must be committed to this plan. They don't have a choice. I don't expect Hagg, Ghost, Morin and Sanheim to be Hall of Famers, but if two of those guys are above average players and another one works out, (I would expect that to be Ghost/Sanheim, along with Morin) they could finally have a defensive corps to build around.

Based on the little I've seen of them, I think Morin, Ghost and Sanheim all have 1/2 defenseman upside. Ghost obviously is small but he just has that "it" factor.

Morin can be an absolute monster for 10+ years in this league.

What are the chances Morin sticks with the team? They're giving him a serious look.

Beat writers seem to think he is not playing tonight, and that that's a sign they are going to send him back. On the other hand, it's our beat writers.

Players should only be sent to the ahl if they can't get meaningful minutes on the flyers.

Would love to know how Morin or Ghost couldn't play ahead of del zotto or grossman at this point.

I think he sticks around for the first 9 games and then goes back to Juniors. They can't send him to the AHL. I think they want to use his salary for LTIR/Cap reasons so I think he'll be here for at least the opener.

This is probably it. In reality, what does Morin gain from another year in the Q? If he can stay as long as possible with the Flyers it will get him more high level exposure. Then hope that he gets into the U20 tourneys.

Morin or Ghost are hopefully #1/#2 defenders. You don't play them on this team when they won't sniff PP time most likely, and will be playing 3rd pairing minutes.

At least with Ghost he can play on the PP and log first pairing minutes with the Phantoms. Morin is more difficult.

Waste a couple pp chances and give up the tying goal with a minute left. Glad it's only preseason.

Still suck at shootouts. It's funny that shootouts impact so many points and yet they haven't been able to do anything to get better at them.
