He's had two surgeries this offseason... a second surgery on his shoulder, and a surgical microfracture on his ankle... and likely starts the 2014 season on the DL. Judging by what they're asking from the Red Sox, the Dodgers won't eat any cash unless they get at least 1 top prospect and/or a young ML regular. We don't have the bullets the Doyers would eat money for, so we'd have to take on all the money ($20 million per year thru 2019).
So, he's expensive and injuries have taken away his power (unlikely to return to what it once was because of the types of injuries)... yeah, I am surprised Rube isn't trying to get um.

You are making a lot of declarative statements about this you don't know.
1. I don't believe the Dodgers are actually demanding much for Kemp depending on the $$ involved.
2. He's 29, he can recover from injuries and return close to form. Will he? I don't know. But he's exactly the type of person we should gamble on at a low cost in terms of prospects.

Phillies were awarded the pick because the Cubs’ 2011 selection, Lendy Castillo from the Phillies, did not meet the required number of days (90 or more) needed on the Cubs active roster -

Since we were already picking 7th, moving up to 4th not that great a thing I think. I'd think about outrighting Sebastian Valle at this point and taking two live arms.

I think the 40 man roster doesn't allow partial men.
