I'd still rather just pay him his whole gross salary to be a pretty good 2/3 time player

the team's willingness to bench him against all lefties is pretty much my whole litmus test for whether we have a prayer the next few years

you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Howard is owed 85 million over the next 3 years. Even if the Phillies paid 45 million of that, do you think any team would give Howard 40 million over 3 years if he were a free agent? Swisher got 4/56. I'd probably rather have Swisher.

If the Phillies want to move Howard, they'd have to eat at least 60-70 million and if that's the price, I'd rather just keep him as a platoon player.

The problem is that people will want to see Ryan Howard if he is on the squad. The Phils will kowtow to the masses to keep the people coming through the gate. I fear tt will be a non-baseball pressure placed on Sandberg even though the platoon makes the most sense.

I think even the dumbest WIP-ersnappers realize Ryan is terrible against lefties and would rather see someone get a hit more than they want to see RyHo hold his bat in front of him.

WIPers aren't fans of Howard since he's "too lazy" to fix his approach

Yet, they couldn't call up George Springer in September...

Can't we pull Valdez and Cloyd off of waivers without giving them up?
