wwry wrote:smitty. there is definitely a thread about tracking KK's quality starts. and its awesome.

I looked it up. I can't quote it because I'm on my IPad. The stat was from One of the Seidman bro's. And the stat was starts in which he allowed fewer than three runs. And he was awesome in that regard for a nice stretch. Maybe later on in the thread someone was adding in QSs. In the first half of this season he had 11 or 12 games in which he pitched 6-9 innings and gave up 2 or fewer runs which is more impressive than QSs. And he had a bunch of others dating back a season and a half or more if I'm remembering right.

He has had a bunch of really effective starts and quite a few disaster or near disaster starts in his recent run. His overall numbers are hurt by the bad starts. But he has been better than he has ever had any right to be given his stuff.

That's why he's a hero.

But all that aside, I'm glad the Phils signed that Cuban cat. I hope he's good and can slide in to be a nice number three type starter. I also hope Kendrick is not with the club next year because he isn't really good. And I think the magic is gone. You can only change your style so many times before your out of bullets when you can't strike out guys and get clubbed by lefties.

It would be really kewl if we could trade him for something of any value at all.

I think that was the general gist of the thread we're talking about.

Corey Seidman reports Kendrick has allowed 2 or fewer runs in 21 of his last 32 starts.

Better percentage than Doc, Cliff Lee or Hamels.

Baseball is . . .

Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Kendrick has allowed 5 or more runs 10 different times, which is the most in MLB.

Rupp, Robles, Savery, Cloyd, Galvis and Garcia are on their way up to the big club. Aumont and Valdes? NOPE

Yup. I don't know how many were disaster starts but they're probably all close anyways. He's led the league before in stuff like this I think.

feast or famine is preferable for a 5th starter making close to the minimum. doesn't make sense to pay a few million for that from kendrick.

If Mr. Pettibone's arm is still attached, he can fill that role. We need a 4th starter. Roy? Morgan? Scrap Heap?

his bb/9 is over 9 in aaa. probably in their best interest for him to take some time off than it is to be up in the majors.

Kinda think he'll never play another game in the Phillies organization, and it's not because he walks everybody.

a pieced together jeff schuler tweet (lhv beat guy):

Phillippe Aumont, on if he thinks he'll be with #Phillies in spring: "We'll see. i don't know what they want to do ... but if i'm not in...i don't want to be back. i want to be with the phillies but at the same time if they've moved on [from me] or whatever, then i think it's time for me to move on. there's 29 other teams ouit there and plenty of other opportunities out there

yeah, if he goes, he goes. I'm a little annoyed at Dubee, but sometimes a guy is just beyond help/listening.
