Understandable. We have such a storied history a player like Doc is simply a drop in the bucket.

Seriously, WTF?

At this point, Doc is a great pitcher who spent the last couple years of his HOF career (he'll wear a Toronto hat) with the Phillies. He did have two great years. He did have that Cy Young season, including a PG and playoff No-No here, but didn't have a particularly lengthy period of success here, nor is he associated with a championship team (not even a league champion). He is a great player, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he is ingrained in Phillies lore just yet.

Phillies pitchers' fWAR since 1920.

http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?p ... &players=0

Hamels, Cole 7th
Lee, Cliff 11th
Halladay, Roy 14th (between Mulholland and Wolf)
Williams, Mitch 552th (-.1 fWAR with the Phillies, worse with other teams)

Fun fact: Mitch Williams twice came in the top 10 of Cy Young voting... just 1 behind Hamels!

Based on Winkelman's stuff from PP, I'm excited about Grullon. Found Jordan's gushing about Knapp kind of unseemly, tbh. Let the guy do something before you put him on ten all-star teams.

“He’s going to be a hell of a good player,” Jordan said. “He’s going to be a hitter. He’s a switch-hitter with an above-average arm. He just needs to improve a couple of little things defensively and we can help him there. He’s got a chance a year from now to be one of our better guys.”

Jordan is a former scouting director for the Baltimore Orioles.

“I did the scouting thing for 15 years,” he said. “Let me tell you, Knapp was a hell of a pick in the second round. I don’t know how a college catcher with that kind of offensive ability gets to the second round. It was a really good pick. I think he has a chance to come quickly.”

wouldn't exactly call that gushing, but he put up good numbers in 247 A- PA. .253//.340/.401 and even had 7SB in 12 attempts

those are good numbers? I'm kinda clueless about expectations for a just drafted catcher but .740?

Franco OPS'd .622 and .677 in his first two years and people where jazzed on him. Tocci has OPS'd .629 and .510 and people are high on him. Also, his[Knapp] position kinda lowers the bar a little bit.

The OBP number is huge. Plate discipline is basically impossible to teach. Anyone that gets on base has a chance pretty much.
