We should go for Iglesias to bat with Revere. We'd have the only sub 200 regulars in baseball.

Random Phillies thought/factoid.

In 1972, Steve Carlton's WAR was SIX TIMES the next highest WAR on the team. 12.1 to 2.0. Thats gotta be a record right?

St Louis loss was much worse for me. 2011 Phils were a better team and in 2010 they fell behind 3-1, so I had some time to accept that they might not win the WFC. In 2011, with Halladay at home in the deciding game, I didnt think there was a chance they werent going to win the WS until about the 7th inning of Game 5. Ouch

Also, I was at game 6 in 2010, and it somehow was less painful than watching 2010 game 5 at home.

My last three Phillies playoff games have been 2010 NLCS game 6, the 2007 NLDS game 2 (Kaz Matsui grand slam) and 1993 WS game 3 (cold and rainy blowout loss) Maybe I should stop going. Also went to see the Orioles lose at Yankees stadium in Game 5 last year.

game 3 of the 2009 world series hurts. we jump out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd, then hamels gave it back, including the camera home run by aroid. also lidge imploding in game 4...

we could have realistically won back to back world series. and now here we are.

Unless we get BJ or Uggla.

Game 6 of the 2010 NLCS is the worst for me. Fucking Uribe. I still can't believe he hit that one out.

Also, let's not forget the guy who fucked us in Game 4 and continues to fuck us today. Chad Durbin.

game 3 of the WS also coincided with my first year wedding anniversary AKA the final nail in that coffin. I pretty much begged my exwife not to put it on and as soon as Hamels threw that fucking floating piece of shit curve to horse face I got sucked into a screaming, hour long argument.

also, how any of you could not be haunted primarily by game 5 in 2011 bottles the mind. That was the epitome of Philly sports misery. Best team in franchise history, greatest pitcher of his generation at home and we get shut the fuck out. Howard blows out his Achilles. I pretty much knew the run was over right then and there. Everything about that game fucking sucked.

I mentioned yesterday that this loss was devastating in so many ways. I was numb for weeks after.

Only mitigation is that it was a DS.

That game 5 was like a slow painful realization that we were going to lose which is different than the Uribe HR (or Howard K looking on that borderline pitch) or the Hamels blow up in 2009. All of them were fucking awful.

This was my worst, too, even though it felt like a loss once Francisco struck out against a lefty with a man on third and one out. First time the Phils felt fallible during that run. I don't really count 2009, since it was World Series vs. the Yankees and Cole's and Pedro's issues were understandable.

2011 sucked, but I knew we were in for a dogfight from day one. And remember, the Phils really limped to the finish line that year. Still, Cliff Lee blows a big lead at home and we lose the series by a run

All I can say is thank god we got a WFC. I would truly be despondent if not.

2011 is all about Game 2 to me. 4-0 lead. Cliff Lee.

They never had a chance against Carpenter that night in Game 5.

2009 Game 2 as well. Now as it turns out Burnett has proven that he's still quite good, but I was certain we'd rake him and go up 2-0

That's the one that really got me. I was praying for shitty AJ to come out and let us get that 2-0 lead but we had no BATS

Also, don't know how you couldn't hate Hunter Pence if the 2011 series is the one that burns your soul.

I will never forget the moment, during Game 5 of 2011 NLDS, when Raul Ibanez hit a deep fly ball to the warning track late in the game. I remember literally crying when that ball was caught.

God, what a brutal experience that was.

I know no one wants to hear this, but he had a sports hernia. It happened a week or two prior, that game he was making all those weird unexplained gestures in right field.

Alright yeah, I'm gonna need to be more specific...

that 2010 series against the giants was painful because of that park. every single broken bat, dunker and blooper fell in. it was a complete and total horror show. i felt like we were robbed there. but still, 2009, we were 2 wins away from winning back to back world series, and we lost 2 winnable games. we were really close.

the cliff lee game in 2011 was a killer. what a dickhead.
