The whole debate on whether Kratz is to blame for the pitching woes is dumb even by Philadelphia sports broadcaster standards.

Sports Final showed a stat where Cole and Doc give up 2 runs less with Kratz behind the plate instead of Chooch :smallsamplesize:

I don't know. A BP guy is doing some really good work regarding things like pitch framing and other stuff about catching defensive effectiveness. Yadier Molina ranks really high in everything. Ruiz is really good too.

Plus, I'm pretty sure a catcher can have a positive or negative effect on an individual pitcher or several pitchers or even a whole staff.

Whether or not Kratz! Is good or bad in this regard I have no idea. But the concept is not without merit.

I'm not sure what the solution is beyond having them talk it out among themselves, though. Can't say I want to see Quintero 3 of 4 days.
