The Mariners are considering ditching the teal next year and replacing it with yellow like they had in the 70s and 80s

I wonder if Jonah Keri will rewrite this article in two years like he did with the other article Jazayerli wrote about the Phillies.

Penn State had a 4-run single in the game I'm attending.

Interesting thing to consider: since the modern era of baseball began (1903), there has been exactly one 12 year period (1965-1976, inclusive) wherein your money didn't matter: there was instituted a first-year player draft in 1965, so identifying and signing prospects was not a cash-fuelled free-for-all, and there was no such thing as free agency until 76.

Coincidentally, the Yankees have had one really sustained run of failure: wouldn't you know, they had a 40-year-run of over .500 seasons broken in 1965, and they didn't come up for air until 1974. Funny thing, those coincidences.

Dang it, I'm going to be in Milwaukee on June 13th-17th and in Chicago from June 17th to 19th and there are no home games for either team. Those are two ballparks I'd really like to see. I guess I could do a tour, but that doesn't feel the same.

Greinke reports that he does not feel 100% comfortable with his elbow, so out of abundance of caution he will undergo a precautionary exam.

There's a guy named Doug Thorburn at BP who does a really good job analyzing and explaining pitching mechanics. He uses the following criteria: Momentum, Posture, Torque, Balance, Release Distance and Repetition. Good stuff. Much better than the Upside down M or the sideways J or the Verducci effect or the other Internet BS.

BP also has a guy who has done a lot of interesting work on catcher defense.

I often forget that after getting Oswalt in 2010 he went 7-1, 1.74 ERA, 82.2 IP, 53 H, .895 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 to close the season. Damn.

I will when I get on my PC. Tough to cut and paste with my iPad.

I asked him what he thought of Doc Halladay. He replied that doc's torque looked low which would explain his lack of zip on the heater. Torque refers to the body transferring kinetic energy maximizing hip and shoulder separation. It's possible Doc is favoring something leading to an inability to generate arm speed by loading up and twisting his torso with enough speed and power.

He explains all of his criteria pretty well and uses video of pitchers who have low; medium and high torque to illustrate his points.
