He was their DH. Played 15 games at 1B in 2002.

The Twins wanted to make Ortiz a line drive to all fields type of hitter. In his words: "They wanted me to hit like a bitch."

The Twins didn't like his attytude.

I understand there were things the Twins didn't like (poor fielding, didn't hit LHP well) so they maybe wanted to move on. My question is really why they simply released him and got nothing in return.
