Knowing the wrath of thread-sherrifs, I'm not starting a thread. But honestly cannot tell what thread is the one to just muse and discuss the team? There's trade Vic and GDT, and Hamels contract - and Random Baseball thoughts -- where is the running discuss the team thread this one?

Anyway --

What I fear is that they un-learn how to win and maintain a winning mentality. An expectation of winning. To fall back in to the pack and collect the phat stacks of $$ paper and just go through the motions. This is where a blend of new hungry guys with veteran experience is helpful. This is where maybe encouraging ole Cholly to retire and get a new field-marshall to encourage some changes and needing to prove -- in the end, winning breeds winning. The A's of the 70's hated each other but liked winning and learned how to do it.

I thought if Doc Cliff and Cole picked up where they left off last year, we'd be around 10 games over .500 @ ASB but really there was no scenario even with Ryan and Chase out for extended periods, where we weren't hovering +/- 2 games from .500 -- this has been a shocker to go from 102 wins to struggling to get 72 wins the next year...

It seems like it hasn't bottomed yet either? They are really slumping now.

ASB couldn't come soon enough...

I'm really at this point now interested in two main things:

1)
Get all injured guys healthy and back-on-track for next year
2)
Only make moves that help next year

As for the remainder of THIS season?

*I'd like to see Chooch sustain this career year.
*I'd like to see Howard and Chase show signs that their careers are not yet over, while getting healthier and lots of days off.
*I'd like to see Doc back to Doc, what a joy to see that guy when he is doing his thing
*I'd like to see Cliff end up at over .500 and get back on track

****I'd like Cole Hamels to stay a Phillie though all roads point to "not".

That's enough to keep me interested for this year now that we don't have any aspirations as fans for a playoff run.
