I'd like to keep Cupcakes, because it's not like we're going to get anything of value for him in a trade, we're not making another move anytime soon, and if he has a pulse in June, an American League team will take him off our hands if we're really antsy to make a move.

Worley today
Hamels-Thursday
Doc-Friday
Blanton-Saturday
Lee-Sunday

i don't know definites yet as the writers haven't said

That's the way I figured it, but there's a split squad game this weekend. I'd imagine Lee will stay home and Kendrick will make the trip.

A small thing to be sure, especially considering the salary, but was anyone else surprised that Brian Schneider was brought back? I know he has the intangible of handling pitchers well, but offensively he's just awful. I would have signed a AAAA catcher on a split deal and let him battle with Erik Kratz for the backup spot. I realize neither Schneider nor Kratz is even going to be a replacement player, but I just like the chance that Kratz might pop a few homers if he gets 30-35 starts.

schneider and worley are bff, right? hes familiar with the staff. its not like we were going to bring in a stud catcher to be a backup, and its not like we had an internal option that was ready. kratz blows.

the pitchers are familiar with schneider now, they probably dont mind throwing to him, so it makes sense to keep him.

Kratz had an .838 OPS at Lehigh Valley last year. I think he's worth taking a look at.

And how much time would it take the pitchers to get "familiar" with Kratz? He was up last September and has been catching them this spring.

It's not a huge issue and I have nothing against Schneider. But if I never have to watch him bat again, that'd be okay too.

KNowing that I have an affinity for home grown talent... read this article about our 1b platoon... http://philliesnation.com/archives/2012 ... oon-fails/ and just wondering... why is the great white hope, Matt Rizzotti, not being given at least a chance to succeed during ST?

Phillies never lose when Schneider catches. It's like magic and stuff.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Maybe. But he batted in the 330s in AA and AAA last year. That counts for something.
