Antonio Bastardo's 3.6 hits allowed per nine innings is the lowest hit rate in the modern era (minimum: 40 innings).

Per Zolecki, Hamels said he will begin throwing tomorrow. He said he isn't worried at all about his left shoulder. He expects to start next week.

Crisis averted. Season not over.

I bet if you MRI'd the shoulder of every pitcher with 100+ innings you'd find inflammation in 95% or more of them.

I may or may not have contributed; I honestly can't remember. I recall hearing about it and deciding to do so, but can't recall if I consummated.

HK was a very selfless man who always did everything- MORE than everything- he could do for the fans. So in that respect, he deserves this honor.

that being said, I'm 99.9% positive that if H could have an opinion about this, he'd want the money to go to Phillies Charities.

And, knowing a lot more than I wish I knew about certain things, it's not a lack of altruism that prevented the phillies org from funding this on their own or even made acceptance of the gift a matter of debate. So it's not really as cut and dried as everyone assumes.

It's a bit forced, but it's a way to subtly make Whitey a part of it. I think they did as well as possible.

I guess 70k doesn't go that far in the statue business...

It's...OK...Although I'm not an expert on the craft. If I didn't have prior knowledge of the event, and I just saw that statue in a room somewhere...It might take me a little bit to figure out who I'm looking at.

The organization could have done a much better job I'm sure if they funded the project independently. I know it's a gift and what not, but it'd be nice to see them turn around and match the 70k donated by the fans to some charity that the Kalas family supports.

Just can't wrap my head around donating money to a 600 million dollar organization when I could think of so many better uses for that sum of money.

Schwimlocity to the big club to take Placido Polanco's spot on the roster.

Not that it matters or anything because Uncle Chollie won't use his damn bullpen even after two days off.

Harry standing next to a piano with a drink in his hand mid song probably would have been a better way to capture him. Not standing at home plate with a bat, which is really stupid and absolutely forced

Great news and good for him.

I'd guess they'll move Contreras to the 60 day DL to make room for him on the 40 man roster.

in all honestly what would you rather have him doing? i feel like it would look awkward if he was just standing there.

The point was to somehow get a tie-in to Whitey in there, which is 1 million percent appropriate. Not sure how they could have better achieved that without being foolish.

I get your point about donating to a $600M company, but I think it's somewhat special that this came from the fans that Harry so embraced. Agree, though, that the org should make some sort of symbolic gesture to "reimburse" the funds to a charity. Great idea.
