We could go .500 the rest of the season and still finish with 87 wins. It's May 5.

any updates on the Chooch to DL scuttlebutt
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

How was this story not linked?!?!

SHANE VICTORINO scored this big goal in the Hawaii Cup soccer tournament when he was 14. Yo, every goal is a big goal in soccer, but this was against a team from the mainland and Shane celebrated by sprinting to the opposing sideline, flipping the bird to the startled parents and coaches gathered there.

The grumble of anger was closely followed by the wail of police sirens. It took a while for the pushing and shoving and threats of retaliation to simmer down.

"I look back at it," Victorino says now, "and it wasn't funny, but I can laugh at it. I just never looked at the consequences. As a kid, you just kind of react, you don't think. I'm not gonna blame it on the ADD."

Victorino's triumph over ADD

Also Smug quote on Victorino's ADD

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. was not concerned about any backlash to Victorino's revelations. Nor was he surprised.

"Anyone who spent 25 minutes talking to Shane had to know it," Amaro said.

Probably should just name this place "Gif She Goes" at this point or "GSG"

The Energizer Bunny image, the guy who dashed around with the shaving-cream pies, the occasional zone-out blunder on the basepaths, people have long suspected that Victorino had ADD. Now it's out there.

i'm more focused on the stretch of 13 games after tonight, all against the teams with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th best records in the league, a huge contrast with the first 30, of which 25 were against the bottom two teams in each division. by may 22, we'll already have a much better idea of how good the non-utley phils really are.

You mean to say the teams we played and beat repeatedly in the beginning of the season are in the bottom of their divisions?! That's unpossible!

c'mon, it's not like any of those teams have played half their games against the phils. of the 6, only the nats have a winning record against the rest of the league. mets and pads and astros would still be trailing without their phillies games, and the dbacks and brewers would still be only just above them since they would lose their winning records against the phils. the reality is that the phillies are only at most a win or two above where they should be given the weak schedule they've had so far. that's not bad at all, but 21-9 against that schedule doesn't yet make them clearly better than the other good teams in the league.

have you factored in the demoralization that facing our pitchers have on the future games teams play, knowing that all their efforts are futile

If you win 2/3 of your games against below .500 teams, and go .500 against above .499 teams, you'll win a lot of games.

And if you win 70% against below .500 teams and 55% against .500 and above teams you'll win even more. This is fun!

Last I saw was Gelb saying they have til Saturday to put him on the DL retroactive because the max you can go back is 10 days. So basically I'd assume if he can't play by Saturday he'll be on it.

Course that doesn't excuse the extra-inning game where they were basically stuck with a 22-man roster because Chooch, Gload and Oswalt were all unavailable, and also they used Stutes for a single batter

Did you know that currently, in the NL, there are 6 teams with winning records, half of them in the East.
And the Phillies have a 3-2 record against winning teams.
