Do the Mets fans know that the Phils sent out that email today? Would the flip their shit like the Nats fans did last year? Or is this par for the course?

Marc Cuban was on Morning Joe this morning, and said he won't be pursuing the Mets. After his last attempt with the Rangers, he said he's not going to jump through hoops again if he's writing an $800 million check, and it's not worth the aggravation.

It might be MLB that is doing this--I received emails about buying tickets when the Phillies playing in Houston and St. Louis.

ah, me:

NYTimes wrote:Mets Are Said To Be Suffering Sizable Losses

The Mets, long one of baseball’s most highly valued franchises, have lost millions of dollars in recent years, including nearly $50 million in 2010, according to two people briefed on the team’s finances.

The team’s losses — projected to hit another $50 million or more this season based on factors including advance ticket sales — come with a range of implications for its owners....

...[T]he club’s falloff in revenue was the largest year-to-year decline for any major league team in recent years...certainly jarring for a franchise operating in the nation’s most lucrative market. In 2009, the Mets, boasting one of the sport’s most expensive payrolls, opened the season in a new park, Citi Field, and the club took in revenue of more than $350 million. Still, it lost close to $10 million, according to the two people briefed on the matter.

The team then struggled again in the field in 2010, ending the honeymoon for the new ballpark, and attendance figures fell precipitously, with almost 600,000 fewer fans showing up.

As a result, according to a person briefed on the finances, overall revenue slid by more than $60 million, and net losses, after interest, totaled roughly $50 million....

I see no other resolution to this than the Wilpons being forced to sell at some point. And that's too bad, because whoever the new owner will be can't be any worse than they are.

-- Cy Misch was sent to AAA
-- Eddie Kunz was traded to SD for Allan Dykstra in a swap of former 1st-rd picks
-- Manny Acosta was DFAed
-- Bay and Paulino will likely start the season on the DL

For once, I wanna be at a Mets game.

It seems that even when the Mets have a good idea it still finds a way to go horribly wrong. Last week the Mets announced that they were reserving two sections of the 300 level to serve as a special low cost section called Mr. Mets landing. The move was initially praised as a way to make a trip to the ballpark more affordable for families but the good vibes would not last long. Late last week, BJ’s Wholesale Club signed on to sponsor the section. In an effort to incorporate the sponsor into the promotion the Mets came up with Mr. Mets BJ Club. The following promotion went up on the Mets website:Needless to say the phones at Citi Field began to ring off the hook. Half of the calls were from angry parents while the other half were from men desperate to get tickets in the new section. After realizing the double-entendre, the Mets quickly changed the name to what is currently showing on Mets.com. The world famous BJ’s girls were removed from the image and the section was renamed yet again. It is now BJ’s clubhouse. (http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/nym/ticketi ... bhouse.jsp)

This is fake, but still damn funny.

Mr Met's pants are tighter than normal

thinking on it, "Mr Met's Pants Tent" might be a good name for the section
