I wonder what the Fugees think of this (ridiculous) idea:

Beltran has that tendonitis in the knee thing. Out a few days (or career). Ruben thinking on this one.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Rotoworld wrote:Mets manager Terry Collins will meet with general manager Sandy Alderson and pitching coach Dan Warthen on Wednesday to discuss the next step for Oliver Perez.
Perez is no longer a candidate for the starting rotation, but the club is still giving him an opportunity to fill their lefty specialist role. However, that may change following today's shaky outing against the Astros. Either way, the Mets have already wasted entirely too much energy on Perez this spring.

"Next step" = the guillotine?

Next stop for the Mets... trade Perez to KC on the cheap where he wins the 2011 AL Cy Young...

According to the source, Santana has not been progressing in his return to light throwing and the team is concerned enough to halt this section of his rehabilitation. By doing so, the Mets’ timetable of a possible late-June, early-July return to the team would likely be wiped out.

Internally, the Mets believe they’ll be “lucky” if Santana pitches this year.

It's a good thing the Mets have the best lineup in the National League to overcome their pitching deficiencies.

Rotoworld lolz:

Luis Castillo survived the Mets' recent round of spring training cuts.
The Mets are thought to be leaning toward Luis Hernandez or Brad Emaus at second base, but keeping Castillo around for another few weeks -- or months -- can't hurt. The club is already going to have to pay him $6 million this year so they may as well have him carry equipment or something. Oliver Perez also survived Thursday's round of cuts and is now in the running for a lefty specialist gig.
