Wilpwned: Hate/Pity/Laugh at the Mets 2011-12

Amaro quietly, and smuggly, manages a purchase of the Mets to assure that they are forever the Phillies B!tches. All season ticket holders get to add Phillies games at Citi field to their packages.

I like that his decision so excited Wright that the 3rd baseman wants to "really play united"
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Hey buddy... can you lend me a dime?

Another source told the newspaper: "Are you kidding me? You don't lend into a distressed situation. This is a very risky loan."

MLB and the ballclub are "exerting strong pressure" on JPMorgan to provide additional money until a minority ownership partner can be secured to infuse cash, the Post reported.

Exerting strong pressure how? Hey, lend the Mets money or else we won't let you pay the D'backs to name their stadium after you? Hey, lend the Mets money or else we won't let you pay our teams to advertise in our stadiums and our TV broadcasts? What leverage does MLB and the Mets have over JPM here?

I just want to know who would buy 25% of the Mets? The only reason they are selling it is because the last time they had money they lost it all to a ponzi scheme. Not to mention the bad contracts and other problems. Why would would anyone trust them with their money?

No one should, of course. But there's always somebody with too much money who'll consider it if he (they) get a first option/right of first refusal to buy the rest if and when the current owners sell.

From my understanding, people generally buy minority shares of companies for some combination of these 3 reasons:

1. The company is a cash machine, making consistent profits
2. You want to own the whole company, so you buy small pieces, then eventually try to wrestle control away from the majority position
3. Its a status symbol type thing for uber-wealthy people. Also known as scoreboard.
