Now more than a decade removed from being the fourth overall pick in the 1997 draft, Grilli never turned into the stud people expected out of college, but slowly, very slowly, he's developed into a pretty nice reliever. Every year he gets a little bit better, and he enjoyed a career best campaign in 2008, despite the transition to Coors after being traded by the Tigers for pitcher Zach Simons (and despite his ex-manager slagging him post-trade). He's slowly transformed into a pure power pitcher, sitting at 93-96 mph with his fastball and complementing it with a sharp slider. He's finally arbitration-eligible and in line for his first decent pay day, and he's well worth it.
