I think... although I'm having trouble following the show anymore - that the Cylons want to "save" Earth (similar to the way they saved New Caprica).

From what i've seen, their saving of new caprica wasn't exactly excellent for humanity...that's the one thing that always bugged me, of both shows, what is it that they think will be 'different' when they find earth. I seem to remember on the old show they did find earth once, but realized they had to leave.

I'm pretty sure the humans are trying to get to Earth in enough time to help the Earthlings fight the Cylons when they arrive.

Well that sounds like a good plan :)

Other note, I was surprised to see Kyle Chandler on Grey's Anatomy again last night...(well this morning during breakfast), i can't remember the last time i saw a 'star' of a show on another network doing a guest shot like that on a different network and show, and if it were any other intern there'd be a little uncertainty, but come on, are they REALLY going to kill off the title character on the #1 show in television (even though with her death the show would probably improve greatly), does anyone believe it?

And CSI, thank you for bringing back the miniature sserial killler and not making it who i thought it would be (wallace langhams character trying to get grissoms attention), i was real irritated that the serial killer thing didn't last longer originally...

For a highly rated show, CSI:Miami seems to go through characters quickly, i wonder if that has anything to do with the 'great' david caruso...i bet if you killed him off, people might still watch and the show wouldn't suck as much.

Dodgers don't have Ryan Howard.

Vox, I used to download Moore's podcasts and generally enjoyed them--not entirely sure why I stopped, though I did so right around the end of the New Caprica arc (also by my reckoning when the quality fell off so sharply). Overall, my emotional involvement in the show--which was probably a bit excessive--leveled off around then.

The Cylons/Earth thing has bugged me too. The best justification they had for trying to exterminate the Cylons IMO was this idea that by "leading them to Earth," they'd put the 13th tribe at existential risk too.

I'm not sure about total "media," but for TV, Philly is 4th behind NYC, LA and Chicago.

Just finished Rome from two weeks ago. That ending was badass. That's all I wanted to say.

Cause he was always too cool to be Doctor Who.

The speculation was that he was a) doing a favor for a friend (Russell T. Davies, the producer) and b) looking for US exposure.

As the story goes (from folks who know), BBC Worldwide set the per-episode price of Doctor Who at the levels of a show like Battlestar Galactica ($1-$1.3 million an episode). SciFi Channel flat out said "No thanks, the series isn't up to the quality standards we require" in early 2005 when it was presented. No one else bit either. Why spend that kind of money for a show you'll never have creative control over?

Anyhow, as the story goes, 2006 came around and BBCW dropped the price after no one would buy - SciFi got a back-loaded deal - they got the first season for next to nothing, second for a bit more, and third for a lot more. Options for fourth and onward.

As for Eccleston, the latter speculation is reasonable, considering he moved here after he quit the show, and is now on a US series. There were a lot of anecdotes from the set where Eccleston was heard throwing fits about how "shitty" the show was - and many members of the production crew/actors have made backhanded comments about him when complimenting Tennant.

Eccleston is a much better actor, but it seems obvious that Tennant is enjoying himself much more.

Okay - I knew Philly was the 5th largest city, but I thought it's media market was lower.

This is interesting - a sourceless little ditty on baseball media markets:

Population of a city differs for overall tv market. Especially for Philly, where more and more people are moving out of the city itself, but to the suburbs where they are still a part of the philly tv market. A city like Phoenix has their population based largely in Phoenix itself.

For some reason, Desperate Housewives wrapped up every storyline last night.

I quit 24 for Heroes, which had a momentous ep. Monday too. Peter flew, Hiro parted ways with his buddy, too much mind-wiping puts Mrs. Bennett in the hospital, and a love triangle was split up with a death.
