I'm not sure why - but I love the show....

Did you see my notes on page 113? :)

yep - thanks!

here's the houseguests and the intro video

The rumor about "past bullies" is sorta correct....6 guests have unresolved issues with 6 other guests

The theme of the house is "Alice in Wonderland", including oversized and undersized furniture

The ShowtimeToo thing is legit...12am-3am ET

New this year: contestants can win extra money if they do what text voting/internet voters tell them to do, like a truth or dare without the truth...

Philly the Kid wrote:Wow, I had no idea how much support there was for Big Love. I guess to me, it's the whacko bitter mom, the power controlling older guy, the sort of upstanding dad who wants to play it straight but feels he needs 3 wives... to me, when you break it down, it's no more rich or quirky than Desperate Housewives. The 3 wives are all playing their roles, the original wife, the young preciocious innocent, and the troubled needs acceptance wife 2.

Teenagers going through their stuff, parents and kids, money and family, it's really the usual dynamics.
I didn't say it stinks. I've enjoyed enough to keep watching, but shows like the Wire, Deadwood and Sopranos, were really breaking some ground... I was really talking about John from Cincy and Big Love in terms of "what does HBO have left?" I don't think those 2 ongoing can comp with the other 3 I mentioned... still compared to most of the pablum on TV like Numbers, Cold Case, JAG stuff like that, well of course, Big Love is way deeper than that stuff... Harry Dean Stanton is cool ....

I haven't been watching Big Love, but IMO, a breakdown like that tells me really nothing about the quality of a show. It's how those parts are acted and played. Heck, a majority of our greatest works of art revolve what you cite as mundane. Well, except for the stand-up guy with three wives. Is that really a stock character?

anyone watch "The Show" on MOJO?

It's a documentary following Chris Young, Casey Daigle, Dustin Nippert, Carlos Quentin, Bill Murphy, and Brian Barden and their exploits between the majors and minors. It's narrated by Joe Mantegna and produced by Al Roker.
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

The women on the show aren't very strong. This is a show where Nicki comes in third in the crazy woman category after Wanda and Rhonda. Sarah has it far less together than Ben does and Lois is a trip. While there are certainly some men on the edge, e.g. Alby, there aren't as many.

I disagree with the part I bolded. I think Sarah is the most "together" character on the show, and is a strong character to boot. She recognizes the lunacy in her familial situation yet still makes an effort to keep things smooth as she obviously has a lot of love for her extended kin. Ben on the other hand always looks like he's about to burst into tears, even when he's about to bust a nut.

Just to add to the Flight of the Conchords discussion - the dialogue gets a little too drab although it has its moments. The music is gold!

Wasn't she in the Police Academy films? (albeit a lot lighter)

I dunno man -- I'm liking it more and more with each viewing, especially the dialogue. The scene last week with Bret and the manager and the other guy lamenting Jemaine's death in the alley and impersonating his "Whaat?" was gold.

The rap tune from Rhinocerous and Jemaine this past week was hysterical. "There ain't no party like my nana's tea party - heeeey-ho!"

Colleen Camp. Yes, she was. I think it was a fat suit.

It's pretty much a brilliant show, IMHO. I was kinda worried it would do poorly and only ever air six episodes on HBO, but last I read they are gonna air at least 12.

I've seen her in some other stuff somewhat recently. I don't think it was a fat suit unfortunately.

It's the sign of good writing when two people can watch the same show and get two different things. Sarah is very troubled and is unsure of her direction. The family is troubling to her, but she can't decide which way to go. She's chasing after a guy who is ten years older.

I must admit I don't get Ben at all. Unless he's about to burst into tears of joy, that is. Yeah, his family is messed up but they're still a good, loving support system for him AND he gets to play around with Margene and he has a knockout girlfriend who practically begs him for sex.

Yeah, I'd be thinking of going straight-edge too.

I haven't watched episode 4 yet but based on the first 3 episodes of the season, the show has only gotten better. And I can't wait to see what Rhonda is up to. I think she's eyeing the role of wife #4 to Bill, though.

Anyone else notice/think Ben and Sarah look a lot alike, all bug-eyed
