There's a lot of that going around.

i'm beginning to think we need a closer more than anything. it's gonna be hard to win those 1 and 2 run playoff games with Lidge pitching the way he has this year.

So much that'd you'd rather give up Drabek and Happ to get him? I mean, I'd prefer Halladay to Lee as well, but the difference in reported asking prices is so big that it makes Lee look like a massive bargain.

And you never find Armani suits on the discount rack either. There's a reason why.

The price for Lee will be higher than you think. Knapp, Taylor, Marson, Donald and maybe a smaller piece.

Because Ricciardi is a dick? Does his family run the Armani suit company or something?

Absolutely. If the asking price for Lee is Knapp, Carrasco, Marson and Donald then that's a very good deal for the Phils IMHO. So, I do have some question as to whether that's on the table.

Still, I'd be happy if we can avoid dealing Drabek, the OFs and Happ.

No, the point is that, just like with top-of-the-line anythings, you're not very likely to get a super-duper bargain on the best pitcher in baseball.

But he's the best pitcher in baseball. If you can get him while keeping 2/3 of your top prospects, you do it, even if you can get the tenth best pitcher in baseball while not giving up any of your top three. At least, that's what you do if you're playing the game like a champion.

See, Knapp/Talyor/Marson/Donald is not an appreciably better price as far as I am concerned than Drabek/Carrasco/Marson/Donald, which I think could land us Halladay if we offered it.

That's been my point. With the deadline upon us, you're going to end up paying almost as much for Lee as for Halladay. Lee is easier to move and has more real bidders. Wouldn't be surprised to see other teams get in the mix momentarily.
