You're right. 60 percent chance. I had no idea it was supposed to rain.

Last night, before I went to bed, it was a 10% chance. WTF!?!?!?!?!?!

Weather.com sucks.

Just checked NOAA.com, they said the showers will be most likely after 2 am.

AccuWeather says rain moving in around 10:30, but not heavy. Still, bring rain gear if you're going.

In other words, it might rain, either after 2:00AM or after 10:00PM or after 4:00PM, or it might not at all.

I wish I were a weather forecaster. Seems like the easiest job in the world.

New Gene Woj article on ESPN.com:

PHILADELPHIA -- As much as it pains me to say it, the Tampa Bay Rays are cooked, finished, done, toast, history. The only way they win this World Series is if Bud Selig declares the Philadelphia Phillies, I don't know, academically ineligible?

More than the bolded section, I hate this reactionary crap. If the Rays win tonight, it will be "What a tough team," "They are definitely going to win the World Series now," "The Phillies have no chance in Tampa," etc., etc., etc. Everything always hyperbolic. Bah.

John Donovan, SI:

PHILADELPHIA -- You have to hate it when the grouchy baseball fans in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and all those other places where no one is watching this World Series -- in close-to-record-low numbers, apparently -- turn out to be right. They warned us that a Tampa Bay-Philadelphia World Series would be a yawner.
And, dangit, here we are in a suddenly lopsided Series, with the Phillies up three games to one and their best pitcher poised to silence the Rays for good in Game 5 on Monday night. The 104th World Series is a few more wild swings and booted balls from becoming, for anyone outside of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the worst kind of Fall Classic: a completely forgettable one.
Oh, things can change in a hurry in the World Series. And sometimes they do. But the only way to turn this one around, to keep it from becoming just another ho-hummer in what is now a half-decade of Series stinkers, is for the Rays to do the seeming impossible in Game 5. The only way to save this Series is for the Rays to beat Cole Hamels, in Philadelphia.

Somehow the Phillies have RUINED the WORLD SERIES!

i'll be honest, i don't really watch the series intently when the phils aren't in it, so i don't care that other people aren't watching. the series sure as hell isn't a yawner if you're a phils fan. it's not our fault they are this damn good.

Well, from the perspective of a dispassionate observer, he's not wrong. The 1986 World Series is more memorable than the 2006 World Series; that's just the way it is.

That said, dispassionate observers may go fuck themselves tonight.

Oh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Phillies don't blow this.

I really don't understand how this hasn't been a good series. We've had three close games, and then an offensive explosion featuring a chubby pitcher going deep. The games have been exciting. We've had great performances from stars like Howard, Hamels, and Rollins, but also unsung players like Blanton having great games. There's Moyer's heroic performance as well. About the only thing that hasn't been that good is the officiating.

The only possible way I see these "forgettable series" comments making sense is if the only way to make a series memorable is if it features A-Rod, Jeter, and Manny. But that's baseball's problem. Both teams have plenty of top notch players, the Phils have a couple of former MVPs, and the Rays have young guys who haven't done much in this series, but who clearly have very bright futures in the major leagues.

From a "story" standpoint, you have the third youngest pitcher to win a WS game. You have the second oldest pitcher to pitch in a WS game. A pitcher going yard for the first time in 30+ years. A chance at a title for a town that hasn't had one in 25 years. You have a young team that is probably at the beginning of a long run of being good. 2 Former MVPs including the reigning MVP and several likely MVP and Cy Young candidates, a bunch of hard fought games. Even the bad umpiring isn't necessarily a negative in the story line sense because it gets people talking about the games. It doesn't look like it's gonna be a 7 game thriller, but I gotta think it's been better than a WS like last season where a hot/lucky Rockies team just falls apart and gets swept.

I know it's been said a bunch of times in a bunch of places, but if MLB/the media, wants more interest in the WS they should do a better job of showcasing teams other than Boston and NY
man I drew all these penises for nothing - housh

Yep, the truest piece of analysis to come out of this whole experience thus far.

Doug Glanville presenting the ceremonial ball tonight (like Lieberthal & Tim McGraw)
"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

Daryl Hall doing the National Anthem. Should be either really good or really bad. Haven't decided yet.

I don't know; I think that rendition of the national anthem is too bad.

John Kruk wasn't too bad in '93, but I don't want him starting for the Phils tonight.
