I was hoping they would ask him why they kept pulling for a Dodgers-Red Sox World Series since he claimed he could care less who wins.

Was it just me, or did Buck sound legitimately depressed when he said "Lidge is one strike away..." during the final batter?

They have taken the delay off of the radio so one can listen along with the television broadcast. We did this last night.

Also last night, Kalas did an inning with his son and Ray's broadcaster Todd. It was cool to hear a "sorry Dad" when Todd accidentally spoke too much.

Were you watching in HD? The radio didn't match up with our broadcast, but we suspect that's because we were watching in HD.

But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

I was. The radio seemed to be ever-so-slightly ahead of the HD, but not enough to really care; it was only occasionally noticable. And anything --- ANYTHING --- is better than listening to Buck/McCarver.

Yeah, HD is definitely off with SD by about 20 or 30 seconds.

The audio from MLB.TV was way behind the TV broadcast. I tried to get the game from the WPHT website and iTunes without success. Can anyone suggest some way to get WPHT for us out-of-towners before my ears start bleeding from Buck, McCarver, Zelasko and Kennedy?

I was at a buddy's house. It looked like SD to me and the sound was right on.

As much as it kills me to listen to Timmy and Buck, I do like the added features of the telecast, like the mic'd up players, and following the action that's being called based on what the camera is showing. Being an out of towner, it's such a pain to try and get the MLB.com feed on the computer, occasionally lose the feed, and have to recalibrate the TV video feed with the radio, all while the Phils are plaing in the, well you know, the WORLD SERIES.

as an out of towner, i think XM is awesome. their MLB Home Plate on 175 is pretty much the only station I listen to on there--all baseball, all the time, year round. they understand that there really are 30 teams in the sport, not just 3 or 4; and i think they do a pretty good job of covering all of them. sure, i'll bet royals fans feel jilted from time to time; but for the most part it's great.

it works for me not just to be able to the phillies whenever i'm in the car if they're on, but just having baseball talk going on in the background for 365 days is a treat; no brett favre/cowboys bs EVER.

they do have some clunker programs, particularly between charlie steiner's show and "the show w/ kevin kennedy and rob dibble" who in the past few years have turned into GODODGERSYAY!!!! for 3 hours.

but anyway, i highly recommend it.

I think game threads really address the Buck/McCarver problem.
