From saturday (didn't see it mentioned):

The New York Mets traded left-hander Scott Schoeneweis to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, cutting loose one of the most maligned members of last season's shaky bullpen.

Of all the "eleven teams" interested in him, one of whom "offered a multi-year deal," Cabrera picks the Nats for 1 yr. @ $2.6MM. Hmmm...

Haha, joke's on the Nats! We already set the market for pitchers who have a 5.05 ERA over the last 5 years - it's $2.5M base, with incentives that could make it $5M. And they're paying $2.6M for theirs! Bahaha. I feel vindicated.

The Giants offered several things on Johnson's wish list: spring training in the Phoenix area, and a chance to stay on the West Coast and in the NL West so he can pitch near his current home in Arizona.

"All of those things kind of fell into place with the Giants," Johnson's agent, Barry Meister, said in a telephone interview.

The Giants really appear to believe they can win something in 2009?

In the NL West with that pitching staff it's quite possible.

I'm hoping the upshot of the Unit signing is some kind of reality show in which Johnson, Zito and Lincecum all move in together.
