You have totally confused me in this thread. Are you in, or are you out?

(Or... are you drunk and vacillating?)

I might be insane (or drunk, though decidedly less so than three hours ago), but let it not be questioned where I stand on this important question.

Gotcha. The admirable choice, that. I was thrown off by something on p. 1.

The pen, which was a strong point, is now worn out... that's what happens when you use the same 3 guys in just about every game. The talking heads and "average fan" would say the team isn't "inspired" or "has no heart". With baseball, that's basically BS rah rah stuff. But there does seem to be something amiss for the last month and a half plus. Not being privy to the inside, we have no way of knowing if there's internal strife, if they're subconsciously overwhelmed, mentally beaten since interleague, shrinking under the weight of expetations, or whatever. It's just... well, I haven't really had a good feeling about this year's Phils since interleague. And lately, it just seems like they don't expect to win every day (while there have been flashes, it hasn't been consistent of late). It just feels like they're treading water.

Last season, the Phils were the primary reason the Mets went into a freefall. This year, we only have three left with the Mets. So unless the Phils sweep the Mets in NY this weekend, I don't see much of a chance the Mets repeat last year's freefall. At worst, the Phils need to take 2 of three, or it's basically over because time is running out (I don't see this Phils team playing 700 ball here on out without the psychological boost of beating the Mets this weekend).

I saw it.

Barring serious rain, I'm in--though we still have to figure out where I catch up with you all. Regarding the weather, I'm reserving the right to wuss out on those grounds since by virtue of location I have to miss getting wasted with you all on the way up the NJT. It wouldn't be much fun to be the only sober guy AND have to wait out a rain delay at Shea with 50,000 enemy combatants.

Kind of happy I'll be away all next week, although I'll definitely check in on scores. If they're back in it when I return, that would be awesome, but I'm not expecting it. I mean, come on, we're the Phillies

I'm pretty sure the phils have one more run in them, like dajafi said. I think my tone lightened immeasurably when jenkies went and mr oap obp arrived.

Also I've been knackered and not paying much attention to anything, so I've built up a small emotional reserve which I can now waste on these pin striped bums.

I did get a little angry when I thought about blanton this morning, tho'.

I'm all the way in and expect a 2-1 trip to Shea.

If we can't take two of three, and we end up 6-12 or 5-13 against the Mets this year, we don't deserve it.

I'm going to see them through to the end, but it's more because I want to watch baseball than this team. I've enjoyed watching some of our Francona year teams that had no expectations more than this frustrating group. I'm still sick to my stomach about how this team has gone from looking like one of the 4-5 best in the game to this flaming pile of crap.

On more than one occasion in the past few weeks, I've debated the merits of becoming a casual Phillies fan and devoting myself to the A's until something is done with this mismanagement team currently running the show. I think it would take the worst imaginable off season (Amaro hired as GM, another ridiculous contract for a SP, sticking with the aging vets instead of injecting some of the youth onto the roster). I can handle losing, it comes with the territory of being a Phillies fan, but I'm sick of cheering for an organization ran on the philosophies of cronyism and stupidity.

Brewers are this year's '07 Mets

This is a can-be-done thing, Mets series or no

(but since I hate the mets I'll call for winning 4 of 3, plus development of temporary, non-career-or-life threatening but optimally embarrassing (piles, spastic colon, hairy palms, etc) and performance-hampering health situations for delgado, reyes, and santana).
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I also plan to live to be 107

you know what bothers me the most about this season?

We had a lead in the division. Like a 5 game lead. And we went into the tank. And the same time we went into the tank, those asstards from up north started to get every break imaginable.

This should have been ours. If we'd not sucked for 2 months, we'd probably still have a 3 game lead in the division.

Just so painful.

But I mean, anything can happen. But we really need to sweep the Mets this weekend. 2/3 would be better than losing 2 of 3 or getting swept, but really, we need a sweep.

I think this proves that last season was about the Mets blowing it and had nothing to do with the Phillies winning it. The Phillies, after all, are the Philles.
