I'd be fairly shocked if he was picked. The roster rules for picking Slayden are way too confining given you can pick up plenty of Jeremy Slaydens as 6 year free agents.

he'll be a useful 5th OF for some team

more useful than a So Taguchi

That's not what's at issue here, of course he'd be more useful than So Taguchi who was below-replacement level. But it's not clear he'd be more useful than a replacement level guy. When you factor in the 50K and the inability to send him down, I think you'd rather have several 6 year minor league free agents.

Slayden and Harris over Harman?

Either of these has some potential to pinch hit and play a role on a major league team--at least Slayden.

I guess they want another Bruntlett type ready to play 2B and SS (can Harman play SS?). I would think a decent fielding middle IF would be easy to pick up if Rollins went down and they have Donald to cover there. I do not see the need to protect Harman over guys who show they might be able to hit line drives and have some good ABs, with a little pop. Why not develop these role players?

Harman is on the 40 man already. You know, when he was called up earlier this year.

Yes. I was aware. And there are a copuple places left on the 40 man, so I am not officially complaining yet. But I might consider taking Harman off and adding Slayden if there was a 40 man numbers squeeze. One is showing a potential major league bat. The other is not.

I've been thinking of doing this for a while and I finally got around to doing it this month. I made a Roster Watch website. It works with all MLB & NFL teams for now and I'll eventually do NBA & NHL. There's probably still some bugs with it but it's here if anyone's interested:
