Another quick one: this may have been the first use of "threat" instead of "thread"....?

First two pages featuring hhhhh wondering about Werth clogging the bases and seke2 beside himself when dajafi suggested Werth is a better hitter than Vic.

I'm glad I didn't start posting dumb stuff here for a few months after that.

Care to explain this one?

7MARY3 over at PhilaPhans/PhilliesPhans once started a topic about how rude it is for families to let their kids run around malls/stores without keeping them under control, and after having enough in the bookstore one day, she grabbed an out-of-control Chinese child and waited for the kid's family to come get her so she could rip into them, also saying Chinese families don't care about their daughters anyway. The responses to the topic bashed her instead, saying she had no right to hold a kid against her will like that, called her a racist, etc. The "TAKE IT TO PHILAPHANS" refers to the attacking nature of that MB...

Everyone always forgets lethal's Ninja-like beat-down on her. It was like that scene in Kill Bill when all the Crazy 88's are surrounding the Bride and she twitches and everyone backs up.

And note that my example is entirely based around the stereotype that lethal is indeed, a woman.

Trivia: Who came up with the name Back She Goes?
Bonus: What was the *awful* second choice (I think we even own the domain name still)?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BAND OF CASTAWAYS LAUNCH NEWEST, BESTEST PHILADELPHIA SPORTS FORUM ON THE INTERNETS

“Free” message board equal parts intelligent discussion, humor, and creativity

Somewhere near Philadelphia, PA – December 24, 2006 – Random cool kids somewhere in and/or around the greater Philadelphia metro area today announced the launch of www.backshegoes.com, an internet forum dedicated to discussion of all things Philadelphia sports. While the forum’s goal is to serve as a hub for intelligent discussion centered around the Philadelphia Phillies, it will also be a place where users can discuss other Philly sports teams, crack a random joke, and even share opinions (some serious, some not) on the latest current events. The name of the forum was derived from the catch phrase of a man known only as, “The Muse.” It is rumored that this person at one time was a minimally famous Philadelphia broadcaster known for his impeccable skill and ground-breaking opinions behind the microphone.

“BackSheGoes, or BSG as we like to call it, is aimed at the Philadelphia sports fan that is passionate about his or her favorite teams and really wants to engage in intelligent, but not stuffy conversation. However, we don’t want the mindlessly passionate types that actually listen to and believe the constant stream of nonsense emanating from WIP. This is not for them. Our goal is to cut through all that BS, discuss what’s actually going on, and try and have lots of fun while doing it, bahaha,” said Don Garvey, Creative Director of BSG.

“It’s the beginning of a new era for the Philadelphia sports fan, or perhaps it will suck, we don’t really know. But that’s the beauty of this all. Our site will become what our members make it; we won’t force them to conform to any one opinion. What we do know, however, is that membership on our board will be totally free, and you’ll always be allowed to make a good potty joke.”

The site will officially open its doors on January 1, 2007. Be on the lookout for more exciting announcements from the BSG team. The first 250 members to register will be entered in a drawing to win a Toyota Scion.

The Woody avatars were a sign of solidarity? I just thought they looked cool. I was making a statement by having one that I didn't know I made.

I don't know, but he knows about the mall I used to work at when I was a teenager and college student.

And I have no idea how, but 1 remembers the Relaxation Station in same said mall. "Hey, we have this former McDonald's, let's make it into a massive smokepit."

Again, from reading the thread at PhilaPhans.

Now, Karn used to post as Karnoval at PP. When did he drop the "Oval"?

My memory is that there were two separate events. The one you describe, where 1 was banned, people came to his defense, the moderators realized that they had their facts wrong and reinstated 1 but banned at least one poster over his behavior during that fracas.

In the second incident mvpsoft received complaints from a poster at philliesphans that she was being harassed on the internet, not on philliesphans, but by someone she believed was a member of philliesphans. mvpsoft learned (from Disco Stu?) that the people at the Orange Board knew who the harasser was. He threatened to ban them all unless one of them told him who it was. No one told and they all got banned. It turned out that the harasser was someone who had been banned from philliesphans long before, so it really was none of mvpsoft's business. I thought that was the final straw that led to BSG.
