So there's this really cool thing going on in the chess world right now. It's basically Magnus Carlsen (best player in the world right now) vs the World (meaning Chess.com members) voting on three choices offered by three other high ranking grandmasters. The world has never one in these types of things before but there are some new restrictions on him, like only one minute per move. I don't even feel qualified to vote, but it's fascinating to follow along just because master games look nothing like the games us 1200-1700 level players play.
i'd like to apologize to shore and housh for timing out on them like 6 times. it's because UD keeps winning football games and i have to work all the time!
Somebody flipped on me because I won on time. The pieces were rather even, but they were yelling at me to resign because their connection was slow. The people who get really worked up are the best to play.

swing by a used bookstore and see what they have. look for something with the word intermediate on the front. when I get home, I'll look for the book I read (I've only read 3 total chess books so I'm not really an authority) that I felt really helped me. it can be a little tedious because you have to read with a board in front of you but there will be strategies that will really blow your mind and then seem so obvious once you know about them.
other than that, sign up at chess.com and just play lots and lots of games
