didn't realize this girl had those grades. she labeled them as becky with the bad grades but i would think a 3.59 and an 1180 SAT is accomplished enough in high school. i'm not taking a stand for her, just thought it was interesting.

interesting episode overall though. never really heard about these kind of lawsuits before.
i say this without finishing the more perfect this week or reading that...but doesn't Texas have a system where if you hit X GPA (and maybe Y SAT) then you're automatically in? If you don't hit that I imagine it becomes extremely difficult.

You had to be top 10% in your class, and that made up 75% of UT at Austin's enrollment.

It's a two parter!

I listened to a few Stuff You Missed in History Class. Anyone else ever listen? I found it pretty brutal. The two hosts basically just read something that seems like it comes straight from a wikipedia page. The topics and people they cover are interesting, but man is it brutal. Gave up after hearing about Hercules Mulligan and Bayard Rustin. The Rustin one had about 15 minutes on West Chester.

Yeah, same here. It's too bad because I've heard Holly Frey on some other podcasts and she's really funny. I don't know they don't go a bit more off-the-cuff in their main pod.

Radiolab Presents: More Perfect is a really well-put together podcast about the world of the Supreme Court

just finished Object Anyway: At the trial of James Batson in 1982, the prosecution eliminated all the black jurors from the jury pool. Batson objected, setting off a complicated discussion about jury selection that would make its way all the way up to the Supreme Court. On this episode of More Perfect, the Supreme Court ruling that was supposed to prevent race-based jury selection, but may have only made the problem worse.

I really wanted to like it, but the hosts are absolutely terrible. I was really hoping it'd have a similar vibe to Stuff You Should Know, but it's nowhere near as fun.
