Final Jeopardy: Rolling Thread

Postby ashton » Mon Feb 11, 2008 21:22:36

Teen Jeopardy tonight. The category was "The fifty states"

This state, when using it's official spelling, contains a diacritical mark.

What is Hawaii?

I got it right, all three contestants got it wrong. I would clean up on Teen Jeopardy.

I had no idea what a diacritical mark is.

It makes sense. It was official spelling that got me. I was wondering if there was something about Rhose Island I didn't know.

As US Solicitor General in the 1960s, he won 14 of the 19 cases he argued before the Supreme Court.

Who was Thurgood Marshall?

The right answer was my guess when the category came up. I feel like a super genius.

One of the kids actually got this wrong.

American Poetry

Walt Whitman called this "The beautiful uncut hair of graves"

What is grass?

One girl got it. She said
leaves of grass
I'm pretty sure Trebek was just looking for what I had above.

In any case it doesn't matter because everyone knows the Ben Franklin is where it's at.

Famous Americans

In 1733 he wrote "the heart of a fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of a wise man is in his heart."

Who was Ben Franklin?

I got it along with all three teens. Probably because we're all so darn smart.

1910s History

World Book said it ranks as one of the greatest engineering achievements in the world.

What is the Panama Canal?

All three contestants got it wrong, so did I.

I went with the Empire State Building. I was about a couple/12 years too late.
