A contestant passed away a week before her appearance was slated to air. Cindy Stowell had Stage 4 cancer when she taped her showing, and wanted to donate any winnings to cancer research. Only Trebek and some staffers knew.

Beat a 7-time champ, too, though some of his run was due to luck and good wagering.

also if i knew i was dying and completed a life goal like winning jeopardy and was donating that to cancer charity/research i'd be bawling like a kid with a skinned knee so props to her.

It will be really bittersweet if she wins a fifth game on Monday, knowing she wouldn't live to be able to play in the tournament of champions.
