This would cause me to go to therapy for life.Monkeyboy wrote:My step-dad was on Jeopardy. He always crushes it at home and has been a zealot of the show since its first incarnation. He blew everyone away in the practice rounds to make it on the show and then got a set of categories that seemed handpicked to give him his worst possible categories for his strengths. He got anxious because the button wasn't working for him as it had in the preliminaries. I think he was anxious and pressing the button too fast. Once you press it, it locks you out for a few seconds. Anyway, his timing was off. He ended up losing in his first match. Trabek came up to him afterwards and was really nice. He told him that the crew thought he was going to be a 5 time winner, but sometimes things just don't work out how you think they will.
He never watches jeopardy anymore, after watching every show for years and years. My mom said he was pretty devastated after the taping. I finally watched the episode and you can see him getting frustrated with the button.
