I kind of love the fact that Seinfeld's pilot aired on my ninth birthday.

There was a time when "Cheers" was the star of syndication. Lasted a really long time. But like all shows, fell off. But Seinfeld has never gone away. Out here in SF, it's been on every night after the news as long as I can remember. The final season ended in what, 1998? That's astonishing... that a show that first arired in '91-ish time-frame and ended in May of '98, is still going strong 17 years later in syndication. For years, it was the 11:30 show after the 10pm news in SF, finally -- about a year - year-and-half ago, Modern Family took 11:30 but Seinfeld is two-episodes now following at 12 and 12:30. Nuts.

I've seen every episode what 30...40.... 50 times? More...? And for the most part - most of them still hold up. It's funny when you see the old Mac SE in the corner, or a big honking cordless phone. There are some references that are a bit dated. But given I'm not far from Seinfeld and Larry David in age and time-frame - the references are very familiar to me.

I still chuckle or smile or enjoy - little scenes or moments even though I've seen them 100 times. "The sea was angry that day my friends..." "Festivus" "Ubran Pancho" "Soup Nazi" "Wear the ribbon" "I got hand" "it's all drains what's the difference" "puffy shirt" "I don't want to look like a pirate" "marble rye" "shrinkage" and on and on and on....

I think I've shared this before - but what I think they should have done - and sort of did on Larry David - was to just do 1 episode every-so-often as a "tv event". Don't need to commit to a whole season or a lot of writing. Just one episode. Air after the Super Bowl, as a major thing -- just to give the massive fan base a "fix" of these characters. The episode they put in the Larry David show - George the the iToilet app, Bernie Madoff, Uncle Jerry - was all great-as-ever. Now, they are really old. But could still do it, but if they had started doing it say in 2003-2004 after about 5-6 years off the air. And it just was a special thing that happened every once in a while. One ep, or a 3 ep arc. Or one-offs from 1-2 times a year. Get huge ratings. Keep it alive in some small way.

Don't know all the issues, but we're talking about basically 5 people -- Seinfeld, Alexander, Dreyfus and Richards - plus Larry David. Don't need anyone else really. By now, parents are gone perhaps. I don't know. Maybe it's too late. But I really enjoyed that sort-of episode that season on Larry D show. They didn't miss a beat.

Friends started in 1994 and is still going strong in syndication. Granted that they ended in 2004 which is "just" 11 years ago.

Just started watching Seinfeld on my jailbroken Firestick. Didn't care too much for the short season 1, but really starting to like season 2

Coincidentally after watching the pilot, a few nights later I was at a bar during quizzo and 1 of the TV questions was what was Kramer's name in the pilot episode

Jason finally revealed on Stern's show that they killed off Susan because the actress didn't have chemistry with him, Julia or Jerry

"I love her. She's a terrific girl. I love her. I couldn't figure out how to play off of her. Her instincts for doing a scene, where the comedy was, and mine, were always misfiring. And she would do something and I would go, okay, I see what she's gonna do, I'm gonna adjust to her. And then I would adjust. And then it would change!

"So I had done three episodes with her and Larry calls me up at the beginning of the season and says, 'Good news! I got a great arc for you this season. You're gonna get engaged!' I said, 'oh it's great, who do I get engaged to?' He said, 'Susan.' And I went, 'oh great, who's playing George?' Cause it was such a disaster.

"What Heidi brought to the character is we could do the most horrible things to her, and the audience was still on my side. ...She wasn't playing a bitchy character or anything, but they knew it wasn't a good fit. ...I kept saying, 'I'm going out of my mind you guys, you're killing me. I can't understand how to play off of this girl. I'm sure that the stuff is not working, it can't be!'...I was the only actor doing scenes with her! And then finally -- they didn't know how the season was gonna end, was George gonna marry her? Was she gonna leave him? What was gonna happen? So finally they do an episode where Elaine and Jerry have a lot of material with her. They do the week...and they go, you know what? It's fucking impossible. It's impossible.' And Julia actually said, 'I know, it's just, don't you wanna just kill her?' And Larry went, 'kebang!'

"But she is...Heidi is the sweetest...it was just the way I come at stuff and the way she came at stuff is just..."

The only redeeming qualities Susan brought to the show were her parents and the cabin. She was horrible.

Yeah, she was the only character on the show that didn't seem like a Seinfeld character. Her death brought us the summer of George though.

Susan never struck me as a weak or ill-suited character.

The humor was that her values were so different from George, Jerry, Elaine.
