Goo stuff guys. Thanks. I have the iPad 2 my self, I'll probably get her that one. I'll have to go over the the apple store to check them out. LTE doesn't matter to her, she's a stay at home mom, so she'll be up in wifi range most places she'd use it.

Really want to get that tech.woot today, a pair of Klipsch image one headphones. I just shredded my klipsch s4 reference buds. Anyone have any experience with the image one? The reviews I've read are really good, just trying to justify spending $75 on refurbished headphones.

i picked up a ps3 with what i am assuming is a broken laser... the disc is spinning but not reading. i tried to reformat and one of those cleaning discs to no avail. has anyone ever replaced the laser or the complete blu-ray drive on and old school 80gb PS3?

i'm quite experienced with pc builds but stuff like taking apart consoles or even laptops really isn't my thing. checked out some info online and it looks like it isn't too hard, but still probably a pain in the ass. any advise?

Came today. Still burning them in, but they sound phenomenal. Not too many things better than a good set of cans.

It looks like this Moscow thing is happening, and I really think I need something better than my virgin mobile flip phone. OK, I don't think that, but Mrs. Vulture thinks that. But I almost never talk to anyone. If I get say a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, I can Skype on that, send a text, and basically be very happy for $10 a month rather than getting a smart phone and paying $40, right? Plus do stuff like grade papers and mark up PDFs with qiqqa and leave my kindle at home as well.

huh?

our 3D printer rules. we just got a new one. the last one was over 15 years old and spit out great stuff. its good to print stuff and take it to plant sites and to fit ups with it before going and making the real thing.

but we do use some of the printed stuff in service.

if the 'huh" is about the location, it's in Delaware. And there's a Dupont R&D right across the street. But that probably describes just about all of Norther Delaware.

It was at the Hagley Museum, a Dupont joint also.

Love Hagley, we have a membership there, we just go to walk and look at the scenery and stuff. Where is this 3d printer, I must see it.

It isn't part of the museum collection- a dude brought it in for the invention convention. Surprised you don't know about that. They do it every year.

Here's cubify announcing that they're going to be there.

And here is the blog of the dude who had his printer there. He's not a cubify employee, but linked in with them somehow. He had his personal printer on display (which apparently fried; I have to look back in his blog).

Finally here is the Hagley blurb on the invention convention.

that thing looks dumb. our printer can do a 2ft x 2ft x 3ft square. its a beast.

didn't know there was some invention thing there. hagley is pretty awesome though. gotta get the tour of the gun powder mills. fascinating stuff. the machine shop is incredible. fucking lathes had a variable drive.

Wow that is pretty cool, wish I'd known, we would have gone, my son would have loved that. My wife does the museum memberships, I'm surprised she didn't know about it, we'll have to check it out next year.

Also to echo jtk there, the gunpowder exhibits are really neat. They do the fun powder test that they used to do back in the day and ignite a spoonful of powder in a device that measures the force. It's loud and the kids love it. Love the machine shop too, they give a great demo.

Hmmm, we'll have to explore further some day. When it's warmer I guess.

Jamie, those are home models which can be had for under 2 grand. I bet yours was close to 6 figures. I also saw that some do metal as well? I'm thinking this may be the best way for me to recreate the 200 year old custom (as in no one else in the world has them) shutter hold-opens that I need. They're about 12 inches long, though, so may be a little out of reach for a machine I can afford. Either ABS painted to resemble iron, or find a machine that actually does metal. Oh the things we can do

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just find a blacksmith? how ornate are they?
