over the summer i was worried about trump's ability to run a challenger's campaign even though he was the incumbent because of his toxic rhetoric and was pretty scared he'd be reelected but its crazy how much he's floundered these last few months. the 2016 version of trump was a much superior campaigner to the 2020 version.

i didn't watch the vice presidential debate were there any war questions? last debate between trump and biden i was pleasantly surprised there were no questions about stuff in the middle east or no fly zones over russia and shit which i distinctly remember in 2016. probably because we're so fucked domestically but i hope the trend continues.

Don't recall one. The only question that came close was about China and Harris referred to the failed trade "war" with same.

yeah thats what i've noticed recently. a lot of posturing about trade wars and spying when it comes to foreign policy but no "boots on the ground" type of talk

there was a long bit where Pence did a bunch of chest thumping over killing Soleimani "who orchestrated thousands of American deaths yadda yadda." Harris kinda took the bait giving an ineffectual response to that one instead of just moving on

I think that is the challenging part of these types of things. What lies/claims do you call out and which ones do you just skip over? There isn't enough time to go point by point on why everything Mike Pence just said is wrong and you never get your vision across that way if you constantly have to fact check your opponent.

I think the most impactful response Harris could have given would have been that Trump has caused tens of thousands of American deaths due to his failed COVID response.

latest Dan Carlin episode goes into the Republic vs Democracy pretty well. real high level, but good perspective on things.

Lee's talking point is tired. The countries that rank as the most democratic also consistently have higher levels of wealth, HDI, equality, happiness, etc. Sure, correlation is not causation, but would love to see some actual evidence presented by the other side beyond "THE FOUNDING FATHERS DISTRUSTED THE MOB!"
