I think this begins to answer the question of why we should know more about our President’s medical condition:

Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, along with several of the Pentagon’s most senior uniformed leaders, are quarantining after being exposed to the coronavirus, a Defense Department official said on Tuesday.

The official said almost the entirety of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, including Gen. James C. McConville, the Army chief of staff, are quarantining after Adm. Charles Ray, the vice commandant of the Coast Guard, tested positive for coronavirus.

General Milley and a number of senior Defense Department officials have also been getting tested frequently since last Sunday, when many of the Pentagon’s senior leadership attended a White House reception for “Gold Star” families of fallen troops. Both Mr. Trump and Melania Trump, the first lady, were at that event.

agree. all "swing" state outside of PA have some sort of precanvassing of mail in ballots now. even if it is just a day or two.

Yeah I mean if Biden doesn't win they should just stop doing any polling as it is obviously not accurate. Barring a catastrophe I don't see how he doesn't win easily in a month based on the polls

Oh, Biden is definitely going to "win" by any traditional measure. The question becomes whether state legislatures with GOP majorities disregard the will of the people and certify Trump electors despite Biden winning their states' popular votes. I think when push comes to shove they will all fall in line with 200+ years of tradition and certify the Biden electors.

The reality is that if the GOP goes against the will of the people in those swing states, the Dems will gain the majority in the next statewide elections. Would be a very risky gambit that would ultimately backfire on the party.

I think (hope) that you are correct on the last sentence because the result of the second sentence is possibly civil war.

Yeah, I think the only way they certify Trump electors is if the margin is razor-thin and they can make a convincing argument to voters that fraud was committed by a significant percentage of Biden voters. I just don't see that coming to pass, given how things are trending.

I do have concerns that, unless the Constitution is amended to include a clause that legislatures must follow the popular vote when certifying electors, it may be inevitable that a contested election will be stolen in this fashion. Arguably it already happened in 2000, but what is being discussed between the Trump campaign and state GOPs is clearly unprecedented, yet seemingly legal.
