Just so we're clear, white people, firing Aunt Jemima & giving us Juneteenth off are not the frontlines of defeating white supremacy & dismantling structural & instutional racism. Better schools, a just criminal justice system, access to healthcare was more what we were thinking.
Seemed like you were talking about the cost, not whether they should be prioritized. I think everyone is in agreement spending a lot of money on removing (or particularly relocating) these things is not money well spent. But simple removal shouldn't cost a dime, except possibly a few hours of police presence to keep the douchelords away from the volunteer removers. Hell, I don't care if they're *removed* at all. Knock them down and leave the defaced statue lying on its face in perpetuity.
