it's one of those things that's so frequent it doesn't really register in my brain. i could head to the restroom to take advil, then relieve myself while i'm there, then i get back to my desk i'm like 'did i take the advil or not?'

If you're taking it regularly, you could simply use a pill case. If you're supposed to take one every 8 hours, you'd have 3 pills in there. You'd know if you took it because it won't be in the case.

If you're taking that much advil go to the doctor to address the underlying or at least get a prescription for something more effective.

I'd never seen a single episode of Magnum P.I. until this weekend. Now halfway through season 1. Being removed from Prime the end of the month, so I gotta move. Fantastic television program!

the advil is an 'as needed' thing. but when i'm working on projects (like my current painting project) it's almost always needed

two knees that need replacing
bad back (re-injured about a month ago moving the leftover shingle bundles across my dirveway)
shoulder impingement (a recurring thing, re-occurred after I was back at the gym a couple months, doc prescribed PT, my first appointment was scheduled for late march, guess what happened)
now i've got this hip thing going on too

/oldmanonparchbench

the shoulder doc did give me a script for meloxicam, but that wasn't very effective (he said "take this once a day and by next week when you have PT you shouldn't be in pain". HA!) plus it expired.

so it's not a regular thing, but when i'm a hurtin', i can never remember if i took it or not.

Park bench might be more comfy.

I can empathize with those. My pappy used to say "It's a bitch to get old." and then we'd laugh at him. Now I see his wisdom. Except he was approaching 80 when he said it. I turned 50 and keep a cane in the car.

15mg of Meloxicam and methocarbamol at night helps me. I sparingly add tramadol on intense days. Usually works well enough to get me through.

Setting an alarm on your phone to 6 or 8 or whenever you hours later when you take the advil?

i've been thinking about something like that. even though i'm not sure if i'll need more after the first dose 'expires', at least if i see there's an alarm set i'll know i already took it.

of course, will suck if i take it at 9pm and my alarm goes off at 3AM

i wonder if alexa has some sort of thing for this?

If I’m taking a timed medicine (cold pills usually) when I take one I say “hey Siri, remind me to take my medicine in x hours” when I take it. Makes it easy to remember when I can take the next dose and I can check how long if needed too. I’m sure android has something similar if that’s what you are on.

Ninja stool is not what I imagined.

It's an upside down collapsible camping cup.

so if you call ambler water co. on the weekend (or probably anytime outside of business hours), guess who they tell you to call? You got it! 9-1-1!

And guess who had to go to someone's house today to help figure out why they had this yellow sludge-like substance coming out of all their faucets (and clogging several?) Right again! ME!

the county radio room couldn't get anybody to call them back. tried pals from wissahickon fire co. (ambler) thinking they may know somebody...NOPE

after 40 minutes of head scratching and googling we narrowed it down to the water softener. seems like there's a resin in them and when the thing it's in breaks it wreaks havoc on the house.

Ambler Water Co should be sued by every person they service. It's a crime their water is so hard(untreated it's around 50 on the hardness scale). If you don't have a softener it'll destroy everything you own.

My parents weren't really TV people, but they loved them some Magnum PI.

(I'm assuming you're talking about the original and not the reboot.)

I never watched it originally. Watched a lot in reruns and loved it. Then evidence came to light that Tom Selleck is likely a real asshole and it took something away for me. If you don't catch it all on prime H&I or Charge or one of those is running it right now.

Oh and there's always Rockford Files on IMDb TV as an alternative.

Yes, the original with Tom Selleck. Didn’t even know there was a reboot.

I’ve been watching The Rockford Files as well. They’re fun even though every episode is the same. Poor Jim must have CTE after getting knocked out each episode.

I’ve been on an old show kick in general, mid to late 70s mostly. Not the best TV but I like seeing the old cars, businesses, and the overall style and decor/fashion of the period.

And Columbo. Man, those are long episodes. Hour and fifteen to an hour and a half a pop. Also mostly the same. Saw one the other day from 1971 where he was in a kitchen which had the exact same ugly pink oven we had for years growing up. Blew my mind.

Rockford files was great. Yes, similar episodes, but the quality of writing was always a cut above.
