I may be weird or maybe just old but I have never sat down and just watched random YouTube videos. If I watch a video, it is because I clicked on a Facebook , Twitter or BSG link that takes me there and then I close it.

(I also store family videos privately on it.)

i don't think anyone really plans to just watch random youtube videos. it happens the way you describe- you click on a link, then after it's over they put up the suggestions screen, and something catches your eye, and VIOLA 7 hours later you're an expert in making fake beehives from paper mache

That is mostly how I’ve used Youtube as well, but lately I’ve been searching out live music sets and playlists and putting them on while I’m working, but sometimes I do get sucked down a rabbit hole after clicking on a link posted here or twitter or something. It can be pretty enjoyable to see some highlights from a long ago season or player, or just finding something that you have a passing interest in and then finding out a lot more about it.
