Dunno, I just don't see this Reade story having any legs. It's 100% hearsay.

To rephrase my earlier point, I don't see many folks who would normally go to the polls to vote Trump out of office say to themselves "I hate Trump and all, but based on this isolated allegation of an incident that purportedly happened 27 years ago, I am just going to stay home and be cool with Trump being re-elected."

I dare say, most who fall into that camp are Bernie Bros who probably were not going to vote for him anyhow and are looking for an excuse to stay home.

If there was mandatory voting in this country then Trump wouldn't have been elected last time and certainly not this time.

I find it hard to believe than anything new could come out about Biden that wouldn't have come out during the previous Presidential races in which he was running unless he did something while in office which they have already tried.

Have you defended Kavanaugh and Trump and every other public figure who’s been accused of sexual misconduct without hard evidence? It’s a difficult thing to collect evidence on years down the line.

Reade’s story probably won’t make Biden voters switch over to Trump. There are two dangers to it from a democratic perspective though: 1) it makes potential Biden voters just stay home and 2) it tells potential Trump voters that Trump’s past with sexual misconduct is okay because Biden is in the same boat.

It's also the literal opposite of hearsay.

Reade's accusation isn't hearsay but the recent revelations are the textbook definition of it.

Also, Dems say they have zero tolerance for this type of thing but now it can be claimed that they only have a zero tolerance when it is a Republican being accused.

The first and third ones probably aren’t really hearsay then. They could be used in court to discuss her mental state at the time, which is a hearsay exception.

And aren’t all three of these things a response to people questioning why she hadn’t come forward sooner, rather than evidence that it did or didn’t happen?

Not sure how to even classify the King caller since it doesn't describe the accusation, the accuser or the accused.

Hearsay alone is not legally permissible yes, but in these courts of public opinion we typically would count corroborative contemporaneous accounts as a check in the accusers column. That's the thing about these...it's not just her neighbor saying it. That's obviously not newsworthy. But we don't live in that vacuum.

The convention isn't for months now. The guy should drop out.

I have a hard time seeing it break through beyond the GOP base/Fox News world. It's an isolated incident/accusation from a very long time ago, when Biden has been in the public eye since (he was VP for 8 years!). It also seems out of character from how people perceive him, which makes it a harder sell. He does the weird shoulder touching thing, but not so much on the finger banging. Never been subject of rumors that I'm aware of for sleeping around.
