you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

So many angles if it were BCS and there would be a Trump guest slot.

Just remember that shutting down immigration is the "need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens." He is concerned about American business is re-opening with a foreign labor force during this time of crisis? Maybe he’s just thinking back to that time where he smuggled in a bunch of Polish laborers to work on his buildings and then hid them while not just paying them less than union scale, but not paying them at all apparently.

A woman on NPR in Kentucky said that she had to layoff her coffee shop workers because the unemployment benefit is the best money they will make in their lives. She said she wanted to keep them at work and that she pays $10-15, so this has to be part time VS a full time payoff because I do not see $1600 - 2400 a month coming through in unemployment (through June). 30 hours @ 10 would still pull $1200. What am I missing?

I think what you're missing is that she's full of it.

they'd make around 350 to 400 a week off of KY unemployment and then the 600 extra pushes them from anywhere 900 to 1000 a week in benefits. so they'd make nearly 4k a month on unemployment. They were not making anywhere near that much at a coffee shop. (i based mine off of 15 an hour and not 10 an hour). 10 an hour would be even higher than what they'd make.

of course they now have to pay for their own insurance(if they even got health insurance).

edit: i've brought this up several times in this thread or the covid thread. PA for example you will be gauranteed full wages or even more up to ~55k gross salary. If you make less than 55k then it probably makes more sense to collect unemployment than go back to work. its also part of the comment about these places opening up when its more beneficial for the employees to stay on the sidelines and collect unemployment.

also, you can't quit and collect unemployment so her thought process is odd.

Isn't that why she laid them off and not forced them to quit?

Just seems a weird way to look at it. Like the government forced me to lay these people off because otherwise they would quit. I don't know the article and her quotes are goofy a bit.

Governor Wolf's answer to a question from a TV station asking about this situation said that employers should pay their workers more.

the country is burning to the ground as we speak... the fire truck has two flat tires, a broken axel and blown head gasket, not too mention a driver who can barely ride a bicycle. yet they are worried about the dog shit in the corner? they should be grabbing some fire extinguishers and try putting this out, cause the fire truck ain't showing up.

Winning the Senate is more important than the presidency at this point. McConnell is an absolute scourge upon this nation.
