Finally got an email saying “don’t come in to work tomorrow unless you need to pick up equipment, computer, etc.” This was sent at 4:36 when many people had left for the day already. Not helpful!

Graham's statement is crazy, how could a US Senator say they have no memory of direct contact with the President of Brazil?

Because Brazil's president is a fascist and corrupt and down the road it would be better for Graham if nobody knows they met. He also wasn't the only one there.

In all seriousness, be safe everyone. You. Your families. And friends.

So what we thinking. 10% infection rate for the states? 1% mortality rate. 350k people gonna die by 2021?

I think only a few states have 10% of people infected. Although I guess if all states have 10% and deaths are this low then the mortality rate may be even lower.

Spouse of an employee at my daughters school had contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus. All district schools closed for deep cleaning tomorrow.

Guessing the notice that they are closed next week will be coming this weekend

My wife had a student in her class from Wuhan province.

He went from a pretty happy kid to one who was advising everyone to take it seriously.

My wife and I are pretty sure, based on the described symptoms against what she experienced, she already had it. I never got it, at least not yet, apparently.

She was most definitely laid out for a few days with whatever it was. And that was her second time being sick this year; the first time she got sick, we both did, probably with the regular old flu, based on the symptoms (starting with sore throats for both of us).

sister's boyfriend is self quarantining and WFH for two weeks because someone at his work is currently in the hospital and being checked

i can't imagine philly/chester/berks being that far away from shutting down if Montco is. There's so much commuting inbetween these four counties

Guy on MSNBC said they are up to doing 1500 tests a day in their lab in Washington state. They found 100 new positives yesterday. I don't even think those are in the 1500 US number. So seems not only are we undertesting but reporting is also a huge mess. Comforting.

FL Tech is going virtual the rest of the semester. No idea what that means. No idea how you finish out lab courses. I can't set up a chemistry lab in the basement.

We figure my girlfriends school is going that way after their spring break. She has no idea how she could do biology labs.

We're going on line, starting Mar 30th. We have classes tomorrow, face to face classes cancelled next week while faculty make the transition as best they can, then we have spring break, and then we finish out the semester. Serious concerns regarding enrollment next year may mean significant budget issues.
