Think of all those dudes who scheduled their vasectomy during the tournament. Just think of them.

We’re actually lucky right now because grocery stores are still open and we have basic services like electricity, water and internet. Once it gets to the point where those places have enough confirmed cases that they shut down, things could get really, really hairy. You can call in the National Guard but those folks aren’t immune either. A month from now these could be the good old days.

Feel bad for the NCAA seniors who just missed their only chance to ever go to the big dance. Stephens of PSU comes to mind.

I don't see a scenario where we don't have any of those things. Even in Italy they are on lock down and seem to be relatively fine with groceries and stuff like that.

If/When I go back to Chine, I have a 14 day quarantine, along with all foreign teachers. This gives me great pause. They put us in a hotel. My question is what happens if someone in the hotel gets the virus? Does it become a cruise ship situation where they won't let anyone out of the hotel and it spreads among the people in the hotel? I almost wish I went back last week before the new restrictions, especially given what's happening here.

Losing baseball season would be the absolute worst. The Phillies are playing so well, too.

holy cow this montco edict is sort of strong. Not sure if this means bars are closed :(

The closure of all schools, community centers, gyms, and entertainment venues.
This includes YMCAs, theaters, sporting events, concerts and nonessential retail facilities.
It includes schools of all type, such as pre-K, higher education and private schools.

No mass gatherings should be held, including conferences and rallies.

Critical infrastructure to stay open, this includes:
All health care facilities
Pharmacies
Urgent Care
Primary Care
Outpatient Services
Long Term Care Facilities
Hospitals
Gas Stations
Grocery Stores
Government Facilities
Utility Facilities
Public Safety Facilities
Correctional Facilities
Mass Transit

I don't think enough people get severely sick for it to get that bad. Most of our miseries will be self-imposed in an effort to avoid the virus. If it gets to the point that so many people are sick that important things start closing, the less sick and healthy will go to work, especially since many of the very sick will be retired/old.

Now if there's a mutation that makes it more deadly or it starts to infect the young more severely, then we may be looking at your scenario.

I don't even know what to make of a conversation that was just going on about how this is media hype. And they can't believe that the fake news media is able to create such damage to things like being able to ever go to a sporting event again. I just I'm horrified. And since every hour this person buys more into this line of insanity I've got nothing and unfortunately I can't stay out of his way. He works for my client, so I just have to keep my mouth shut and I'm fearful that I'm going to snap especially since we've been delivering analytic tools. I mean the whole project is about fact-based actions.

There aren’t that many severely sick people now. The point is that anyone who has it — even if not severely sick or even asymptomatic— can pass it on, which is why so many things are being closed/cancelled.

But as long as we have physical bodies available none of the utilities will stop working. The essential stuff is going to be fine.

Graham's statement is crazy, how could a US Senator say they have no memory of direct contact with the President of Brazil?

I know, but I'm not worried about the electricity or water being turned off because I think not enough people will get very sick (low %). If it means basic services being turned off, I think people who are healthy or less sick will go to work and make sure the electricity works. It's not the zombie apocalypse, at least not yet.
