Am in New Orleans for work. My initial take was Jersey gets a lot of shit for the non-scenic nature of the drive from Newark to NYC but holy shit the drive from the airport to downtown here was gross.

What, that drive from Louis Armstrong Int to NO is not your thing? You are not into blight, abandoned industrial, super sketchy hotels, places that could be a strip club or a slaughter house or either depending on the time of day?

A ranking first world mistake was having an early flight out of N.O. so we stayed in a "hotel" near the airport.

FWIW, if you want to see gross, take a morning stroll down bourbon street. The sights, the smells, its something.

VERY early, except for Sundays. Usually they're out cleaning before dawn. Except for Sundays when it is really really gross.

Of course I haven't been there since katrina- maybe they've cut back on their sanitation schedule.

I had a rare breakfast today at my local diner. I got scrapple, eggs, home fries, toast, and coffee for four bucks. Four bucks! I don't think they've changed the prices since 1988.

occasionally check out big lots.... they get herr's chips in from time to time. also checkout some of the philly cheesesteak places but they have a tendency to carry utz though.

until about a year and a half a go, you could order from walmart other regional brand chips/snacks online that they sell in other stores and have them shipped to a store locally here for no charge. unfortunately that didn't last long.

I live about 15 min from the Herrs factory and they have a factory store there. I’ll go over there sometimes and get it from the source. They have factory seconds too where it’s a printing mistake or either end run or beginning of run batches that have too much or too little flavoring on them. I got a bag of sour cream and onion last time I went that was over seasoned and it was awesome.

do you know what is wrong with it when you buy it?

Sometimes, obviously if it a printing error you can tell and I’ve seen some stuff labeled as over cooked, so the chips are a little browner or the pretzels too dark. I’ve never gotten anything that tasted bad doing it, in fact most of the time can’t really tell the difference.
