"In light of today's announcement from the defense department that 34 U.S. service members suffered traumatic brain injuries as a result of Iran's retaliatory strike and President Trump's remarks which minimized these troops’ injuries, the Veterans of Foreign Wars cannot stand idle on this matter.

TBI is a serious injury and one that cannot be taken lightly. TBI is known to cause depression, memory loss, severe headaches, dizziness and fatigue — all injuries that come with both short- and long-term effects.

The VFW expects an apology from the president to our service men and women for his misguided remarks. And, we ask that he and the White House join with us in our efforts to educate Americans of the dangers TBI has on these heroes as they protect our great nation in these trying times. Our warriors require our full support more than ever in this challenging environment." — William “Doc” Schmitz, VFW National Commander

Glossing over the "old white dudes" term for now, Trump responding as he normally does to criticism could swing a significant number of votes.

I think it's slammed when you consider who it's coming from. That's about as strong of a rebuke as the VFW is going to get to a sitting president.

As for the white dudes, I used to regularly deliver food to one VFW and went into another one probably 10 times with a friend because his dad worked there and I never saw anyone that wasn't old and white. I know other people are allowed to go, but that was my experience. Of course, that was years ago and things change.

I'm not sure how many Iraq and Afghanistan War vets are interested in joining--numerically, the VFW would be dominated by Viet Nam War vets, so yeah, old.

This is something I had wondered about all along. Doesn't Roberts have the ultimate say over how the impeachment trial proceeds?

this guy agrees:

yeh, I think that's why some people said it made no sense for dems to take things to court to get people to testify. Those cases would end up in the supreme court eventually and would likely be decided by Roberts, so there was no sense in wasting the time when it could be decided by him in the senate trial. Their best chance was for Roberts to be reasonable.

Breaking via NYT: Trump told John Bolton in August that he wanted to continue freezing security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Bidens, according to an unpublished manuscript by Bolton.

Weird how they don't want Bolton to testify.

I don't trust Bolton to turn on Trump or the GOP. He's already hated by the left and I can't imagine him risking being hated by the right. I wouldn't put it past him to bait democrats into pushing for him to testify and then laying an egg during testimony. It would poison the well for other witnesses, probably leading to no more witnesses or documents.

Don’t worry. There won’t be witnesses.

Bucks Co chooses union guy to run for open PA house seat in special election despite Bensalem dems wanting different candidate. Came down to money. The opponent is the daughter of a sitting State Senator, Tommy Tomlinson.

https://www.buckscountycouriertimes.com ... trict-race

need to flip this seat. so hopefully the Bucks Co dems know what they are doing.

Called Toomey's office to ask that he commit to calling witnesses. Just call give your name, town, and zip. Spoke with Nicholas in the Philadelphia office.

I mean there is basically no way he votes YES for this, but regardless, everyone should call.

(215) 241-1090 is the Philly office.

Asking other boarders to do the same.
