Donny J and the Giant ImPeach: politics

Gimpy wrote:I could see him walking away. He has so many easy talking points that he could drop that his moronic base would lap up and actually admire him for. He’ll call it a retirement instead of a resignation.

-I got so much done in three years that I don’t see a need to stay in office
-I’ve sacrificed so much by serving my country in the past three years; I’ve done enough time
-Who would want to be in “the swamp” of DC? I won’t have to deal with the nasty democrats and unfair media anymore
-I can do more for the people if I focus on businesses instead of the presidency

And then I can hear from an uncle at a holiday party about how Trump fixed everything, yet was simultaneously so disgusted with how broken everything was that he retired and how America would have been perfect if we got eight years of that dipshit.

Smerconish pretty much said the same exact thing on his show one day last week.

Every calculation he makes comes down to a singular consideration - how will the action (or inaction) I am mulling impact my brand. If he came to the conclusion that resigning will enhance his brand somehow (perhaps he believes he would become a martyr for the right), I think he would leave in a second.

That's well-reasoned, but I can't imagine him exposing himself to criminal liability.

the guy is in his 70's. it's not about a brand anymore. i could see his kids worried about it though. he's had his entire life of being able to do whatever the hell he pleases, he can't anymore. he has dwindling support and if he can justify his legacy as gimpy pointed out, i think there's a chance he just ups and leaves. here's a guy who initially didn't want to become president. he just toyed with the idea, for his brand and ego and i don't think it was his lifelong goal.

But he has since committed crimes, and had a ton of light shone on previous crimes.

What entity or agency can accept a deal on behalf of all the crimes he's committed?

You'd have to get the State of NY on board with that. Congress can't protect him from state crimes.

Exactly. He’s got a tiger by the tail, can’t let go and he knows it. He’s got so many enemies and skeletons the only thing keeping him out of jail is the Presidency. Once you’ve committed to his lies, crimes, screwing people, etc., there’s no going back.

We've reached the swearing stage.

@realDonaldTrump
The Do Nothing Democrats should be focused on building up our Country, not wasting everyone’s time and energy on BULLSHIT, which is what they have been doing ever since I got overwhelmingly elected in 2016, 223-306. Get a better candidate this time, you’ll need it!

Probable quote forthcoming from Pubs: “I am deeply concerned about the President’s potty mouth.”

oh word?

@NatashaBertrand
Trump says just now that there were “stenographers” on his call w/ Zelensky taking down the conversation “word-for-word.” But the record released by the White House specifically said it was a memo, not a transcript.
