Last month the high school team I coach had a practice at Belmont Plateau. When we got there, there was a meet going on for kids like 8 and up, CYO or something. At first I thought, this is great, look at that, a couple hundred kids enjoying the sport of cross country. I should have been warned by the fact that they had a row of orange cones set out, not to mark the course, but as a line the parents weren't allowed to cross. It was a warm day in September, they're making 9 year olds raceTHREE MILES, and whenever they can get within earshot the parents are screaming at them to ATTACK THAT HILL and MOVE and GET HIM from the gun like they're playing football. What a way to kill any interest going forward, especially for the kids in back who are most likely to grow in the sport. I'm hoping they got ice cream after, but I'm pretty sure it depended on the kid's time.

I appreciate my parents being generally disinterested in my sports. Little league games were the only thing they attended regularly. And that was for the comedy and ice cream.

I wasn’t there, just heard about it. Was told a kid yanked his leg after the play was dead, so don’t know how bad it looked. Could’ve just been a coincidence.

Saw this car again this morning. The lady was having trouble staying in her lane. As I passed her, I noticed that it was likely because she was trying to eat a bowl of oatmeal or whatever it was while driving at 70MPH.

i had to go see spiderman into the spiderverse with my nephew in some awful sticky uncomfortable mall theater because the nice theater only was playing it in 3D. the floors were so fucking sticky. it took me way back to the feeling those 90s-early 2000s movie outings.
