1. move
2. buy earmuffs

it's only one day a week, i think you mentioned earlier, some workers at a bar/restaurant and probably a friend of two too, letting off some steam after work. sucks it's at that time, but one day a week for about an hour. if it's an all night affair, multiple nights, different story.

maybe even try to hang out with them for a bit, could be fun. if you live in the city, you gotta deal with both the pros and cons.

Yeah it's only an hour from 2-3am every weekend. I'll invite them to your house to kick a soccer ball against it weekly and see how you feel.

i've had neighbors party a little too loud at some very inopportune times for me. actually wound up partying with them and they wound up keeping it down or moving the party most of the times in the future. i realize this could happen where i live, and at times it does, and i could move if i wanted to. it's can be a drawback for me too.

Right and sometimes this happens and I understand that's apartment/city life but it's a weekly occurrence and 'neighbors having a party' and 'random dudes kicking a soccer ball against a building and pissing in an alley' are a little different. And it's 2 in the fucking morning, not like 10 or 11pm.

i live between a top 5 bar/club scene and the largest university in the united states. with probably 1/4 of the residences being vrbo's/short term rentals. unless your apartment backs up to an alley behind south street, i don't think you would want to trade places with me.

speaking of which... short term rentals are EVIL. they destroy neighborhoods and drive real estate prices through the roof. if you're zoned residential, you should only allow these types of rentals if you live on the premises and if you don't it should be subjected to a tax double of what hotels/motels have.

Never been robbed delivering pizza. Got rob pumping gas in NJ. Then the guy tried suing me two years later for knocking him out when he tried to push me into his car. True story.

Every Saturday night for the past 6 or so weeks a group of 3-6 people have had a mini soccer game or kickaround in the alley/parking area behind my apartment at 2am...or maybe like 1:50 to 2:30 to 2:50. I'm not about to go confront 1. a large group of people, and especially ones that are big enough assholes to do this and drink/smoke/piss/scream at 2am in public. I've called 911 the last 4 weeks and I'm not sure if they actually show up or not. After I call, sometimes they go away fairly soon, sometimes it's a little later, but I'm not staring out the window to see what happens.

So 911, which may have had some effect, isn't proving an effective deterrent. Basically, even if it saves me 20 minutes of waking time at 2:30am, we're still up 30-45 minutes every week. Is there anything I can do? I emailed my local precicnt or whatever asking them to please just send someone every Saturday at 2am until they stop (if they have the resources of course) and they just didn't respond.

Honestly don't know what to do now except maybe beg the 911 operator to tell the cops to tell them to leave and to never do this again and tell them they'd be back to make sure (even if its a bluff). Wtf would you do here?

And I know that hopefully the problem will solve itself come winter but that's probably at least a month or two away and I assume they could start right back up in spring.

A certain volume of dog/cat/human excrement will likely deter them as well.

On a more legal note, I'm not sure of the "quiet enjoyment" laws in PA. Might be worth investigating and contacting your landlord. Landlord may get more traction on the complaint with local enforcement.

sucks, man

we had a similar situation in Old City and resorted to blasting white noise apps on our phones as well as a room fan, which worked

Yeah we have a white noise machine and a phone but nothing is probably going to drown out a soccer ball banging into your wall.

All compounded by being woken up nightly by some sort of trash dumping at 3-4am, and trash trucks at 5 or 6 sometimes. Never live against an alley! Pretty sure I'm going to make us move after a year.

I just need something that will make it impossible to play soccer for like 2 hours and then be completely fine so the actual property owners aren't inconvenienced!
