The 1919 flu epidemic killed mostly young healthy people.

And yeah, the fact that 50 million died that year from flu is pretty fucking mind blowing.

Some flus, for some reason, produce a particularly pronounced immune response. That's what kills the younger people...stronger immune response from a better immune system.

Most flus produce secondary effects (pneumonias etc.) in people with weak or compromised immune systems and that's what causes those deaths.

A high school teacher in Georgia was placed on administrative leave after allegedly posting a message in her classroom saying the Confederate flag symbolizes one's intent to "marry your sister."

The controversial message offended one Hephzibah High School student, who told her mom the teacher put a photo of the Confederate flag on the board with text saying: "A sticker you put on the back of your pickup truck to announce that you intend to marry your sister. Think of it like a white trash 'Save the Date' card."

how do i just now notice that The Flintstones beginning credits ends with them going to a drive-in movie and the end credits begin with them leaving the drive-in

yep. anyone joining as a volunteer ff these days has to do 180 hours of training to be qualified

and that criminal & child abuse stuff too

Guys can't join just to drive the trucks anymore? Makes it hard to recruit.

I got the mocking tone aspect, more just didn't understand why caps and lower case would indicate such a thing

Something wrong with the gas pump I’m using, but if I stop I lose my reward. Pumping a gallon every 1:53. Was 55 seconds earlier in the fill. I’m taking it to the needed 20 gallons.
