Imagine the impunity with which he'll act in a second term.

At which time Pelosi says 'we'll get him in 2024!!'

I think the subpoena of the grand jury testimony and the feeling I got over the weekend makes me think they are going to try to impeach him, and in fact, have begun the process with those actions. Schiff said as much: "“I think that for the purposes of the law and Constitution, where we are now is most accurately described as preliminary to a judicial proceeding,” Schiff said. “And that judicial proceeding is a potential impeachment.”

I really didn't think they would because it's usually a short process that would been long over with before the election, but Trump's blocking everything and that will draw everything out. At the very least, they'll get to show how he's not even allowing normal investigation and oversight.

A few more dems came out in favor of impeachment, as well. It looks like it's gaining steam to me.

he is all over the place on twitter this morning.

not that it is unique or anything, but i guess it just continues to be unnerving and baffling that somehow this human is president.

apparently Trump didn't like that known DSA member Coats believed the intelligence agencies in regards to Russian interference in the 2016 election and the need to beef up our security for the 2020 election and beyond.

Ratcliffe knows the REAL scoop:

Ratcliffe appeared Sunday on Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures" and made a number of points that were in sync with Trump's rhetoric. He said it was time to move on from talk of impeachment, questioned the legitimacy of the Mueller report into Russian election interference and urged investigation into potential wrongdoing during the Obama administration.

Well, we continue on this journey of accusation about what was done to Don, followed by his actions to implement exactly the abuses he accuses other of perpetrating against him. This grievance driven cycle combine with his unquenchable desire to discredit his rivals is nauseating.

Meanwhile over in camp highroad, the big news is that Obama liked a post from a former aid that grumbled about current WH transgressions.

I don't want to sound like one of the conspiracy wackos but, with the nomination of Ratcliffe to head intelligence (hardy, har, har), I have a diminishing level of confidence in a fair election in 2020.

I think it's time to remind people what he was actually doing that day. Since he's such a pompous arrogant asshole, there's video of him telling the New York TV audience where he was:

I become more and more convinced every day that many of those calling for immediate impeachment have no idea that it’s a two-step process which requires trial and conviction by a two-thirds majority of a (Republican) Senate.

It's as if the only possible good outcome of impeachment is trial and removal.

Yea, but what is the Russian embassy going to do with $500,000 worth of straws?

Amazon gold miners invade indigenous village in Brazil after its leader is killed
Bolsonaro has insulted the indigenous community and wants to open the area to mining; he also has publicly stated that the environmental protection agency is lying about the levels of deforestation that is taking place

Went to a Houlahan town hall. Packed. People I think were there because they want Impeachment. She still wants to trust the process. Sigh.

I am so ambivalent on the question of impeachment. I get why some Dems want it, but I also get why Pelosi and others are not keen on it. I hate to think this way but the only thing that matter is what is MOST likely to result in President Elect Democrat on November 4, 2020. Impeachment at this juncture is basically a dead letter in terms of actually removing Trump from office before the next possible “natural” expiration date; there isn’t enough time. So the only thing now is will “Benghaziing” him work for 2020?

Some would say sure it will, it worked on Hillary after all. But did it? She won the popular vote by almost 3M and two whole percentage points - a nearly unimaginable margin while still managing to lose. Her team ran an awful campaign and James Comey was a much more proximate reason for the “collapse” of her numbers in the final week.

And Don just seems Teflon to these sorts of things. Polling numbers be hanged, he reminds me of George W. Bush in this one respect: liberals hate him so much you’d think he was the devil incarnate, as likable as if someone already unlikeable, like Ted Cruz, were also a proven child molester to boot. But outside of our echo chamber, I think they miss something critical: Americans love this persona. The big bad boy with a lot of bravado and a lot of glitz. Most (white) people on some level LIKE Donald Trump no matter what they say, his persona is so quintessentially American, and the reality is he’s got a kind of charm, if you look past the bigotry and whatnot. He plays by his own rules, he tells it like it is, whatever you want.

Trying to crucify this cat seems exactly likely to backfire.

It’s clear to me he goes on his tirades not even so much because he believes what he says, but because he is like Bart Simpson: he knows how to play people to get a reaction. And the reaction he wants is liberal hand-washing about him and his positions, which comes across to a significant part of the (white) population as whining. And he gets it. All the time.

In my personal experience, it is better, a la Sun-Tzu and The Art of War, to let people like that just go off, and not respond too much. Let them over-swing, over-kick, over-attack, and use the momentum hey generate against them by simply remaining a mostly quiet and dignified alternative, who can maybe get can get an effective and understated cut in or two against the loudmouth to accentuate the point.

This is another reason for Elizabeth Warren to be my fave. Not only do I agree with every idea that leaves her mouth, I think she truly understands that you cannot win a pissing match with this man, nor can you expect to win by crying going all outrage-machine every time he gets on Twitter and says something else trying to provoke that EXACT reaction. There’s a reason he wants it.
